Sorry for not posting my effort on here but I am a little forget full This is my work in progress A Chrysler Neon Mk1 V6 I am on an owners forum in the US but a member of Yorks Yanks along with PPC Mag forum and Practically Classics. Take a standard auto neon mk1 Take out standard 1996cc SOHC 4 cylinder engine & 3 speed auto box. Which had a knacker engine and box. And shoe horn this in it's place What is in the picture above is a 3301cc V6 pushrod engine and 4 speed electronic auto box from a Chrysler grand voyager. Which looks like this now. Yes I do need to get the wiring sorted out Then for some new footwear for the old girl. The summer wheels in the mockup stage. Which will have 205/50/r16 tyres and white wall spats. And a 1970's min hub cap. Please fofgive the blocks of wood and the duckt tape holding up the hubcap. Oh and the wheels are 16"VW Beetle. And the Winter wheels with the same 1970's mini hub caps fitted, but not the chrome trim rings as they need a good clean first. These are the factory fitted standard 14 inch one which have been mod'ed. www.ppcmag.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8745She has been raised by fitting mk2 Chrysler Neon R/T springs on mk 1 standard struts. A Nissan 350Z exhaust back box is being modified to fit along with a custom tow bar bracket. USA standard spec rear lights have been converted to UK spec and have replaced the standard export(euro) lights. The full nity grity on the build here including the mistakes and cockups. Unfortunately it is all on another forums. www.ppcmag.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8729forums.neons.org/viewtopic.php?f=51&t=374536Enjoy

I like the way it sits in the last photo, makes it look sort of "cop spec".

Oh yes! That is awesome, love the completely random but in theme engine swap, inspired. From a quick bit of research the 3.3 makes 160bhp? should be pretty torquey and sounds nice too.

Props to you for doing something with one of these. Needs one of those clip-on 70's red cop lights at the top of the NSF A-post, and a few donut cartons scattered randomly on the back seat. And a stash of lollipops. ;D Who loves ya, baby?

I've just modified the thread title so it includes that it's a V6 and automatic. As far as I know this is the only right hand drive neon V6 swap in the world! Also from what I have been told be the neon owners nobody has ever retrofitted the later 4 speed electronicly controlled automatic transmission into this model neon so she is braking the mould in more ways than one.
As for the do-nuts and lollipops, I'm diabetic, and disabled, but I'm not dead yet!

So you can see what the nissan 350z back box looks like after it has been modified And after it has had it's second coat of VHT paint before it goes back under the car.

It's got a cop motor. It's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters, so it'll run good on regular gas. What do you say? Is it the new Bluesmobile or what?
Cool car. Great to see one breaking the mould.

Okay the back box is hung under the car by it's hangers, and a bungee strap from the towbar bracket under the back box to the suspension to stop it rotating and dropping the tail pipes to the floor. Here are the photographs for you scrutiny on the exhaust tail pipe length and how they sticks out.

Love the concept... I think if there had been a factory V6 Neon I'd have one.

Yes the wiring needs to be done, but it's time to use the starter motor to turn the engine over to circulate the oil a little and stop the engine seizing up. During the last few seconds of the video being shot the cameras tripod was moved as I went over. The car battery was put on charge as that is why the engine didn't turn over very well.

I was using a battered set of jump leads to get the earth on the battery a good earth on the engine. The cable of the jump leads is good but the crocodile clips on the end are past it so are cable termination that the wire heated up and was melting the insulation.
I will be turning the engine over again tomorrow before draining the cooling system. Why? Because at the moment the cooling system only has water in it and no antifreeze. After watching the weather reports, and seeing how the night temperature is getting closer and closer to zero degrees C, It will need to be done asap before any damage is done!
So there is me getting soaking wet tomorrow, YUCK!!!

Okay as I said last night I was going to drain the cooling system down as only filled it with tape water and no antifreeze. Well here is what the water looked like! I have since flushed it a couple of times to get the water running clear as possible. I have then made the mix of antifreeze and water about 30-50% antifreeze. I tried another set of jump leads only for them to melt on the first attempt. So rather than buy another set of crocodile clips, I removed the ones from the set of leads which melted. and fitted them the old long set. The battery wasn't charged up as dad keeps turning the charger off.

Well after reading this particular thread which mentions the legalities on modification etc. retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=138071&page=1I am glad that I have already informed my insurance company and the DVLA! And my insurance is up for renewal at the end of the month, so it's headache time trying to get and compare what they offer me for cover! The insurance company hasn't asked for an engineers report on the old girl, but I might just get one to be on the safe side when she is up and running.

First off an apology! Due to the seriously bad weather, my bad health(don't ask) and the house clearance of a Aunt Polly's, I have been unable to do anything on Christine to get her running. So sorry for the delay, but it might be a little longer.
Here is some information from Jimbo on the weight differences he has just posted on his V6 build on neons.org which is relevant to mine and hope you will find interesting.
Considering that in the UK we never got the 2.0L DOHC or were able to do the 2.4L engine swaps because they were to few in the PT cruiser and we never ever got the SRT Neon. So just some info to keep you going!

Right the rain was one thing but now we have had this penetrating fog for a few days. There is no way I could even think about working on the electrics in this! As my younger brother has bought a 'V' reg Land Rover Discovery, his Rover 45 has ended up on the inspection pit. Add uncle Eddy's small trailer, Dad's work van, mothers volvo and a soon to be arriving Nissan Micra from another relative. Added to which the Rover and the micra are/will be up for sale. This place is beginning to look like a car park/sales lot! And Dad has already had ago at me because mine isn't on the road! I could have had a go at him for saying he is was going to do the back box & the ring on the exhaust for the lambda sensor. Which he still hasn't done, and the sensor on the exhaust needs to be fitted or the ECU will not start the engine! He won't let me weld (when the weather is good) as he thinks I might damage my sight(remember I have had lazer treatment to keep what sight I have), and yet he has openly said there is a good quality welder in his garage for me! I as he has to take holidays before the end of the year, he is effectively now on a 3 day week! Sorry I rambled on(maybe a little of topic) I am now wondering what it would cost to get a pro in to get the electrics sorted out quickly before the winter really sets in. Any ideas of who to contact or the cost?

I spent yesterday afternoon in the pouring rain driven by ice cold winds. I used a trolley jack and the winch to get the car swung around and onto the pit. I had to have help from my mother to operate the jump leads on the battery terminals(behind a tree usually) The car could do with going further back on the inspection pit by about a yard. But just getting her there I jammed the winch cable between the drum and frame of the winch as I didn't have a fair lead on it. or Well I know now, and the cable will be getting replaced later as I was unhappy with the state of it closer to the end on the drum side(better safe than sorry!). I have also made my mind up about ecu/pcm plan 'B'. Rather than spend any more time under the bonnet of the car rewiring it for the intrepid ecu, I will simply make an adapter using the plug of a spare neon ecu, and some wiring loom ecu plugs off an old lpg kit. Plus it will be something I can do in the warmth in a well lit room, out of the bad weather. And it will be something to keep me occupied! Ecu already disembowelled, just need the socket off undamaged. Add as the case was filled with a protective rubber it was a chew to remove from the casing.

Well last week I purchased off ebay a neew winch cable and fairlead. 8mm Wire Winch Cable with Winch Hook 15 meters which has a breaking load of 4000kg, yes it's new not used. And it is a little over kill but I would rather have the cable far stronger than necessary. Both items bought separately. I just need a fixing bracket for the fair lead and some good weather to work outside when I get it to put it all together.

Sorry guys nothing been done on the car with this weather first rain and flooding, now frosts with snow in the forecast for the next seven days.
I have as well as put a request in the wanted section the neons.org forum, I have also been contacting sellers in the USA braking 1997 Dodge Intrepids on ebay. I have as of today still not been able to find a set of ecu plugs to make an adapter for the intrepid ecu to be plugged into the chrysler voyager wiring loom.

Well the weather here has been rain, strong winds and cold temperatures. So nothing done one the car.
Made worse by a little mishap 2 days ago! While trying to get the hose fire ready for the evening, I had to chop a few bits of wood to make suitable size sticks. I slipped and hit my hand with the hatchet!
Luckily the hatchet wasn't as sharp as it could have been & no bones broken. However it did break the skin, but with my immune system I have to keep it clean dry and out of the cold to avoid infection.
Okay back on topic.
As it has been a fair bit of time since I removed the exhaust pipe with the down stream lambda sensor, & even longer since I removed the old 4 pot from my neon.
I can't remember where it plugs into on the car, whether it was on the engine harness or into the main loom on the car!
As I have said the weather we are having is not suitable, so I'm not going into the inspection pit as it full of water and lord knows what! I am not going to risk my health to check on where it is.
So I thought it safer to ask a few people through a pm/email on the neons.org forum which has resulted in different answers.
What is agreed on is that the upstream lambda(heated O2) sensor plugs into the Engine harness. However it is the down stream lambda(heated O2) sensor Which is what I need to know about!
Add to which those who I have asked are probably using their own experience with left hand drive cars, and my old girl is right hand drive. Which could mean what answers I do get could be wrong because the old girl is an export RHD!
I was hoping that if the neon had the wiring to the downstream lambda sensor I could use that rather than have to run a new set of wires for it(and avoid making a bit of a mess with too many wires)
With a bit of luck I have been speaking to someone through ebay who has the plugs I need for the intrepid ecu. So I need to get cracking on getting the socket off the old neon ecu to make the adapter to go from voyager wiring loom to intrepid ecu.
They have said they are send 2 sets of plugs, which I have plans for later on in the year as while the car is on the road I could use the second set of plugs to make a second adapter , but the second adapter will be part of the LPG system wiring loom, so I would not need to chop into the cars wiring again, and it wold make it quicker and easier to to install the LPG7 system
