It is good to learn things,.. This thread has taught me that I can remove E21 BMWs from the shortlist of cars to get when I sell the Datsun, because some of the people involved with them are so insufferable I'd rather own and run something else, rather than have to deal with them. Good work on promoting your particular favourite cars.

I'm an e21 owner and I like all of the e21's that have been posted in this thread. Is that narrow minded of me? ;D I'm not entirely sure about the 4x4 one but 'big foot' type cars are just not my thang. I can appreciate the skills that it must have taken to build it though.  The way I see it is that when any of us modify our cars, post pics on tinternet and attend shows etc, we are inviting people to comment. It's unlikely that all the comments we get will be positive ones though but we still should respect each others opinions, should we not? There's no point in being a keyboard warrior as it's neither big, nor clever. I would also suggest that not ALL e21 owners are narrow minded. Neither are ALL VW, Skoda, Ford or Vauxhall owners. Surely this place is big enough for us all to play together?  I'm sorry you feel that way Hotwire and it's a shame if your opinion is a true representation of how e21 owners are seen. I honestly wasn't aware that e21 owners are seen as being down on people that don't conform to their idea of doing things. That hasn't been my own experience but obviously, I can't speak for others.  |

Mark, all the ones I've met in the flesh have been nice, you (obviously) and the chap with the lovely Red one that was at CP (could be Amazo or someone else on this thread for all I know) being the most recent. However my internet encounters have been a very mixed bag and I'm not sure it does ya'll credit. I have similar experience from Ford scene as well... so maybe it is just a thing you get when a group of people like a car, perhaps I'm spoiled by the old japanese car/Datsun scene  ... I just don't need the tension in my life! ... Of course it is hard when both my wife and I like E21 BMWs and 2002/1602 BMWs alot and E21s are the cheaper of the choices. |

I've always been an E21 fan, twelve years ago we were saying they'd be the next big thing and they never were... Nor will they ever be, which is no bad thing.

Why do I want an Orange E21 so much when I already have an orange 2 door Toledo that is a very similar car in many ways? It would be so pointless but I still have a stupid yearning......

I'm sure I saw your orange Toledo going along the A3 a few weeks ago, heading out of London near the Tolworth roundabout. I was going the opposite way in my orange e21. |

The one on bags has function, it functions perfectly well as a car for getting from A to B, that's pretty adequate function for most cars really. I bet with the suspension set at a reasonable height it'd still out handle your average school-run 4x4 or people carrier, and if they manage not to randomly fall off the road I'm sure this e21 can too.  It's not your car, and it's perfectly safe, why do you care so much how it drives? The owner clearly isn't bothered about driving fast, what's so wrong with that? |

They seem to bring out so much bitching and whinging about what people should and should not have done to their cars. And Team Blitz's "hilarious" jokes and photo collection (We get it. You don't like BMWs.) E21s rock. This has turned into quite a nice collection of E21 pics; I like pretty much all of them (except the lifted one, and the grey Alpina doesn't do much for me). Murran, your's looks tough. It would be a terrible shame to have to stop looking at these threads because the moaning and whinging is becoming SO BORING. Single headlight ones rock particularly hard IMO. What were they, the pov spec models? Sometimes being poor rocks. |

In the UK only 316 had single lights, and perhaps very early 320i. They are designated for the 4 cylinder models.

On the subject of low, you can't get lower then this. My '77 320i.  Before anyone tells me off of scrapping it. It was far from straight underneath and the fire wall was made of soundendening and carpet nothing else. Some of the roof skin is now in my 1600 as rust patches. The motor, gear box and breaks live on as well in the 1600. That brown stanceworks one is my fav e21 for form over function. Cheers |

As an aside and I may be wrong. When I was a little kid (late 80s) I can remember going to my Aunty's in London for a weekend, and a guy on her street had a Mk5 Cortina with a E21 front end welded on, bit of a crazy homemade bodykit but stock wheels. Can anybody else remember it or is it one of those cars that people try and forget?

I like it, I like negative camber too, makes it look so low its broken!!
As for air ride, my Buick has this, not for just looking good but also makes it handle too, whats wrong with that?
I think Euro look cars are similar in Vein to early lowriders in that being low makes them what they are, and I bet it still drives great once thares about 60 psi in the bags, wouldnt be much higher either...
