I have every faith that you will, and whenever you feel - like in any project - that things aren't going your way and you are losing your Mojo all you have to do is post here and we'll help you get it back. The Mojo boosting properties of RR are well documented! If all goes according to plan, I will be in San Diego this time next year - unfortunately as far away from you as possible while still in the US. Nice weather but the worst State in which to own a modified car as far as I know. I feel obligated to blame SWMBO for that Enough thread derailing! Bring on more pictures of that amazingly rot free for the age shell you have in your garage

About time this had a thread, you've kept us all waiting with that little tease shot in the 'best looking 911' thread.
Wish you all the luck with the project, will follow with interest as it is on my bucket list too - still some way to go before I start ticking items off though, since I have another country move coming up next year

You can drag and drop pictures in quick reply (not on mobile unfortunately) or upload them straight here, no need to host them somewhere and link to them any more.
P.S. Price in the title is required, you can edit it.

Ouch...
That is troubling, and not only for Australian imports / exports. Governments around the world seem to have a tendency to adopt the worst and least thought out procedures...
Somehow I can already picture cars being seized to return to Australia, only to be dismantled and kept indefinitely in storage for Asbestos removal - since we are talking for pre '99 cars - with the costs mounting...

'Sealed Lips' seems to be the mentality behind it, since the changes to the frame are indeed significant - and probably something for the new owner to fix.

Got all excited to hear the engine but... "The page you requested cannot be displayed at the moment. It may be temporarily unavailable, the link you clicked on may be broken or expired, or you may not have permission to view this page."
Is it just me?

That looks properly done, and a very nice sleeper too! Always had a fond spot for the MK2's, and some extra power and torque are always welcome How does it drive? Are you happy or already looking to up the boost?

Any preference on the era, engine, driven wheels? Late 80's and forwards brought as you know a revival of the roadsters, with MX5's (ideal if you like welding ), MGf's (seats not far back because mid engined but perfect if you like projects), Z3's (long hood and seats far back, but in that awkward period of BMW's design that makes them a love or hate affair). Fiat Barchetta's are enough of an odd ball to stand out and they are a decent drive with some interesting features like the door handles, but are front wheel drive and don't know if that is your thing. MR2's also fit the bill somewhat, but they are either too small, or not fully convertible. Mercedes does have some interesting offerings, with older SL's being rather good value for what they are right now, and various generations of SLK's although I never liked the way they drove. If all the above are too modern for you, could I perhaps suggest the rear wheel drive Alfa Romeo Spiders? They have the look you ask for, and you might be able to grab a relative bargain if you are prepared for a lot of welding and tinkering. If you prefer something older and more British, a Spitfire might fit the bill, along with MGb's, and you might be able to rescue an XJS, although I don't know how close to your budget those might be...

The lower part of the frame and the swing arm also seem to be from a C50, although heavily modified with the whole back section and the tank cut out to create the BMX look.
Overpriced doesn't even begin to cover it!
