Head gasket is considered a consumable service item on these, and at 190k if it hasn't been changed it soon will. Be a good idea to get the sump off and give it a damn good clean out too These engines seem to like sludging up and blocking the oil pump pickup..... Don't think the 9000s sludge, it was the early echo power engines in the next gen 900 and 95. The 2.3 in the 9000 should be ok.

That's awesome, bet it's a bloody riot to drive! It was and the MR2s we had with rover k series engines (will post a pic when i get a chance) Those maestro vans were the best though, felt so soft on the suspension but great fun to be so high off the ground in a maestro van! And bloody awesome offroad! Several were made, i know an MD got one. Pretty sure they pre dated what became the Freelander though. My memory is slighty faded of the years but i think that project was more car based and called ODIN, but again i may remember that wrong. Was indeed called ODIN and was the test bed for freeleander. Thing was due to cash shortages the project kept getting put on hold, when it eventually got momentum it was called CB40. I have one of the original dealer technical briefs updatairs a large 100+ page document.

Lovely car, I guess your not into motorbikes as part of the deal. I have an early 900 Daytona I could use plus a little cash your way?

It's back for another year and a bargain entry of only £5 per car. Full details can be found at the link as i won't do it justice, also a drive from Cov on the Sunday. www.festival-of-motoring.co.uk/

Don't know if these are of use to anyone, but started to have a clear out in readiness for a house move.
I have a pair of Mondeo rear speakers (no covers) that I bought but the car died before fitted. I bought second hand I have never unpacked so assume they work. There free if any use to anyone I live in B26 and work in Cov so can arrange handover or if you live further just cover my postage.
Probably go in the bin in the next week or so.
Cheers Karl

Sorry random part just found in my garage when clearing stuff for a house move soon.
Part No 191819166 Gasket (I think)
Best if I describe where this is and if you have a mk2 you will probably know the fault, with water getting in the passenger footwell.
Open the bonnet and there is a plastic scuttle leaf catcher cover, under there is a vent that gives air to the heater fan. This is the gasket that seals the vent to the scuttle. I had a leak on my GTi but it turned out to be the leaf catcher at fault.
Anyway can't remember how much this was from VW put if any use to anyone its free. Either for collect if your local to Brum or Cov (where I work), or I can post if you cover the postage.
Cheers

How does it work with per 1960 cars that don't need an MOT?

Thanks all think I will try the banger racers. I went through all the options with him and truthfully think he CBA to do anything else with it. Looks like I'm off car hunting with him next week.

Hi all, I need some advice please. My brother has a 2001 mondeo tdi estate that has packed up. Apparently it's the fuel pump ecu and he has been quoted £400 plus parts by a company in droitwich to fix. He has decided to get rid of the car and buy himself a mid to late 90's barge, something like a seven series, xj or s class (I'll be scanning the ads on here shortly). However I need to help him get the best price I can for the mondeo. It obviously won't drive but the AA got is started and its parked at work in Redditch. It's got 9months MOT and in decent nick.
So what do you think the scrap man would give me? Or would I be likely to sell it for more on the dreaded bay for more money?j
Any advice appreciated. If I new how to insert images on my iPad I would insert an image of the kind of 7 series he wants, but think mids to late 90's with a min of a V8 and you get the picture.
Cheers Mull
