This isn't some thing that I have to do or even want to do but realistically it makes no sense to have two projects on the go as they are both taking money and time away from each other, so I'm gonna stick this up and see what happens.
I bought this about a year and a half ago and it had been stored in a garage and off the road since about 97 according to the tax disc and mot's. I have the new keepers part of the old style log book but that's it, I did intend to send off for a new one just never got round to it.
When I got the car it was obvious that the sills had been repaired in the past by just covering up the rot, i've since removed the worst cover, chopped out the old rotten sill, repaired some rot on the inner sill and welded on a new outer skin. This still needs a little tidying up as the weather turned before I could finish it but if the rain holds out I might be able to get that done this week. The other side isn't as bad and other than than a small hole that could be patched up would pass an mot, but ideally it wants the same treatment as the other side as no doubt this still has the old rotten sill hiding underneath it too. It needed a bit of welding to the passenger side inner wing which has been done and at least one of the rear arch lips has started to go a bit crumbly. There is also a dent in the front nose cone and the front bumper is bent. The head lights were missing glass so I have bought a pair of early sunken headlights for it but these haven't been fitted yet.
It was running when I got it and drove (although the brakes need attention) it had a problem were it would start and run fine but then cut out due to loss of spark and not start again for a bit although running a live straight to the coil would have it sparking fine again. I was advised on here that it was probably the ballest wire breaking down, i've since fitted a acuspark electronic ignition and was going to bypass the ballest but haven't wired it in yet as I was concentrating on the body work.
Pics from when I got it
Welding to inner wing
And how its sitting now
I'll get more photo's later, still have the standard steel wheels too
Like I say this isn't some thing I wanna do and I will still carry on plugging away at it so some of the stuff may be sorted before any sale
I'd like £450 for this, if I don't get it it'll go back in the lock up until I have the time to do the rest of the bits to get it back on the road
