Build threads and readers rides works for me. I'm comfortable with showroom, but it does bring up connotations of clean & polished cars. I do like the build threads as they are, but I'd also like a section I could just flick through and see one off shots of projects at their various stages. Sort of related to this; it would be cool if the new readers rides/showroom was essentially a big page of thumbnails. They'd have to be quite small (and maybe multiple pages) but it would give a nice preview. Come to think of it, would longer loading times be a problem?

I could stick it on the forum if you want? That's always the dilemma, somewhere like Facebook would get loads of attention but you'd get loads of idiots at the same time. Unfortunately I can see most people breaking that car for spares ☹

I sort of feel bad for this, since it's such a generic choice for people around my age. But I was a teenager during the "max power" phase, when the R34 was pretty much the king of everything. I'm not so interested nowadays, but back then...

BIG circlip pliers. I struggled but I did eventually manage with normal size ones.

I bought some of the cheaper stuff available on demon-tweeks but it seems to allow the fumes to permeate, so the surge tank in my boot makes the area smell of petrol.
Are the above suggestions thought to have better properties?

There are fiat shims in 33mm diameter. I bought them from aecar.co.uk.

Assuming you fitted the cam, did you use assembly lube? They do like a good break-in period, but the high rpm is only to help the lobes & shims, not the bearings as far as I know. The cam cap bolts have quite a low torque, but I'm sure you already knew that.

I'm attempting to make money from a bit of wheeler dealer-ing, so that I can finally put the 740 turbo on the road in spring. It was supposed to make the RR gathering in 2017 I would ideally like to fit bigger brakes before it goes on the road, otherwise my life expectancy will be greatly reduced. To kick off the buying & selling process, I went to look at a cheap 740 that needs a fair amount of work. After being shown around that one, the guy said why don't you have a look at the other car I'm selling too. So of course I walked away with two cars, and now I have 4 Volvo's.
