Morning, having fallen foul of buying some of that dodgy batch of fuel lines that were being sold by everyone a couple of years back (those advertised as high quality unleaded lines) I need some new lines.
It needs to be 8mm id (5/16) and needs to work with jubilee clips as it is going on a mk2 golf, running a mk3 tank and a mk4 engine with a 4bar pump. So i believe it needs to be rated much higher than 4 bar.
Anyone got any good links please?

Can you not do the lines in 8mm id alloy or steel, and just have a rubber connection at the ends?

Thanks chaps, funnily enough that's what my mate said (hard lines), seeing as he is doing more of the work it's probably a good idea lol

Another vote for Cohline. Last stock I got (I tend to keep a couple of metres handy at all times) was from Merlin Motorsport as I was buying something else from there so saved the postage costs.

I'd only use Cohline these days. With the increasing ethanol content, it's just not worth taking the risk to save a few quid. With the same engine as mine, Harry Metcalfe's mishap on his R107 (fuel hose let go in the engine bay) cost him £2k to have a new harness and other bits repaired. Seeing as my W108 started finding leaks in the front hoses one by one, I can believe that! The Power Steering Store in Balsall Common, also know as dickdasterdley can sort you out here.

Gates Barricade is also good stuff. Not cheap, but good.
Found my receipt the other day, from the Chinese knockoff rubbish I got suckered into a while back by AFS. Still bitter about that.

I bought some of the cheaper stuff available on demon-tweeks but it seems to allow the fumes to permeate, so the surge tank in my boot makes the area smell of petrol.
Are the above suggestions thought to have better properties?

Fumes without wet leaks is the hallmark of ethanol containing fuel in the wrong hose. I can confirm that the Cohline 2240 does not suffer from this.

I’ve used Glencoe before and they were fine, but can’t remember if it was specifically for hose. If it has a brand name printed on it the odds of it being real are better.
The notorious dodgy stuff was just marked SAE J30 R9. No brand.

Found the order paperwork from June last year. It was 2240 I bought, in various sizes. I only managed to spend £ 43...... Pipe is doing fine so far so it's already outlasted the other stuff. I also have some 2240 bought from Merlin in 2017 and that is still fine too.
