I've just "finished" moving house. The old V90 has been a life saver. There aren't many manual box V90's left out there.

Hi, I believe the weekend camping ticket includes a small cost for spectator entry to quick 60, but then if we pay to compete in quick 60 there's no reduction for the small spectator cost. Is this something that could be integrated in future? I can understand it would get rather complicated. I hope I'm not sounding overly tight, but then I am Scottish so... I'm not particularly worried either way. Looking forward to both events!

**SOLD** MOT to 11/02/2023 No idea what the mileage is. The odometer has been broken for a few years so you'll have to look at the MOT history and estimate it. The number plate "F744" is original and I would assume quite sought-after! If you know, you know. It runs well but would benefit from a couple of suspension bushes and new tyres. There's some rust around the chassis legs, and a patch that was welded years ago, but clearly it wasn't deemed a problem in the latest MOT. The paint on the roof and bonnet is very bad. I think it has had a partial respray at some point. However the sides & boot look great and are straight, and I assume the reflective strips on the bumpers were replaced at some point because they're in perfect condition. Black leather interior is in decent nick. The heated seats aren't working. The headlining & sunroof were recently reupholstered by myself. There aren't many out there with good headlinings. The gear lever knob is loose - broken piece of plastic on the inside. No headlight wipers. Rear lights are a bit faded. Oil & spark plugs done earlier this year. Offers considered. No swaps. Price in title. (You know you should buy this and slam it on some cool wheels )

The problem with the late XJs and XF's is you're either stuck with decent petrol engines but not many mpg's and crazy road tax, or top 3 worst diesel engine ever made and the ol' piston smoker Transit engine. The repair costs are crazy too, especially offset against the value of the car. Got me curious now. Are those diesel engines particularly unreliable?

I'm sure age plays a small part. But equally as you get older you generally become familiar with "nicer" cars, and after a while I think you lose that familiarity and confidence in older cars.
The one way to solve your fear is to take your old car for a mammoth drive. Chances are you'll arrive back home wondering what you were worried about.
Having said that, I think my brain is currently embarking on a subconscious effort to justify the idea of buying a brand new GR86 😇

Blimey, you're dedicated to saving Volvo's. As one of the previous owners of the C70 I would like to apologise for it needing a few things! That was the most pleasant daily driver I've ever had. I feel like they are under-appreciated.

1997 Volvo 940 Classic 2.3 107k miles 12 months MOT Full 3" exhaust including cat (about 2/3rds is stainless, and the mild steel section is brand new). It is surprisingly quiet, at least when you're inside the car. 15g turbo. (only a slight upgrade from original) The ECU has a chip from the mythical Fred (one of the OG's of LH2.4 tuning) It has just had an oil change. Otherwise totally standard. It has a slightly tatty interior. I've cleaned it but a set of nicer looking seats would really brighten the appearance. The exterior has a few scratches and a dent on the boot. There's one bubbling spot on the passenger wing. The scuttle panel isn't fastened properly. I haven't investigated this but you can see how it leaves a gap against the bonnet. The battery tray has a bit of rust. Otherwise the body is pretty solid. The front dampers feel a bit worn out. It could do with a full set of tyres - 3 of them were listed as advisories on the recent MOT, as was one of the track rod ends. Bonus; It has a National Vegetable Society sticker. And three small animal stickers on the dashboard - I believe they are; baboon, ankole & zebra. There's potential to make this thing look a lot cooler! £1650 ono

Well I'm excited to be doing the hill climb, but I now have one totally busted front damper and I can't get a replacement in time. It's going to be a bouncy ride!

You might not be especially interested in drift cars, but the Drift Games channel is excellent. They embarked on a pretty crazy venture by taking out a big loan (possibly a covid related grant if I recall correctly), and building these two cars whilst seeking sponsorship to become "pro" drivers. Plus they play around with other smaller builds, and show off some cool cars from around Ireland.

I had some fun at Cadwell Park. As expected, the differential works wonders. Cadwell isn't exactly near to me, so I'm glad nothing went wrong. Only thing is that the breather system doesn't work at all, so it pushes a little oil through the cam seals etc.

It has been a while. I'll jump right in with a picture before rattling on about the things I've changed. Short version; Fancy differential, bigger front brakes with a later year servo, stiffer rear springs, revised the rear section of the exhaust, added thrust bearings to the front coilovers, made an oil separator can, and fitted ridiculous wheels. For the rear springs, I went up from 350 Lb/In to 400 Lb/in. You seemingly can't get any higher rate than that in this size of spring. I'm hoping this helps to balance the car a touch more. The front springs are definitely too stiff for an old wobbly Volvo! On the front coilovers, I had serious coil bind issues so the PS pump was struggling. I bought these thin needle thrust bearings to sit against the spring. I'm sure they will get full of dirt in no time, but for now it's a good improvement. I went all-out and had some V70/C70 front brakes refurbished by Bigg Red. Plus braided lines all round and EBC yellow pads. The discs are 302mm, the originals were 262mm. Unfortunately my 16" Volvo Galaxy wheels don't fit over these brakes. I could've made them fit by grinding the calipers, but since the calipers were freshly refurbished I couldn't bear to go down that route. There aren't many options for perfectly sized wheels that don't require spacers or adapters. I really hate using adapters, which led me to these 59 North wheels. Gripper differential. Genuinely cost more than the car Painful thing to buy but it should be worth it in the long run. It's set up in a pretty aggressive setting. It does make funny noises when turning at slower speeds. The speedo sensor is mounted on the diff cover, but my original speedo/reluctor ring was solidly attached to the OE diff. So I had to model one in CAD, and thankfully got it made for free! The ring was such a tight fit that I didn't bother tacking it on. Now I can't help but wonder if that was a bad idea. I had to redo the rear section of my exhaust because it was hitting the handbrake cable over big bumps. (black cable running next to the axle). I wasn't too upset about this because the old rear section was pretty ugly anyway. I'm aware of how disgusting the axle looks in these pictures. I made this oil separator out of mild steel, which I know is not the right material. But if the inside is covered in oil, it's not likely to rust. And I painted the valve cover before realising that I should've had a fitting welded to it. I'll try to lower it a bit more. That's more than enough spending for one year!

I'll add the Simmonite sisters to the list - rallying/comp safari fame. Related to them, the Simmbugghini was a mad creation in its time. I loved watching those mental V8 off roaders destroy the Highland hills as a youngster.
