i had one fitted in the back of my old caddy van, used to turn in on 20 mins before work in the winter, was mint.
mine came with a fuel fitting to go in the supplied tank, i stuck that in the bottom of a 5l jerry can and threw the supplied tank away.

yeah it shows that plenty of profit to be made....
example of pretty much every show pretty much: pay £4000 for car at auction spend £5000 restoring then sell for £3500.
i like it good program and thankfully a distinct lack of the wheeler dealers reality tv style production.

Probably solved the non throttle issue, but, i bought an sdi caddy many years ago that would often lose its throttle pedal and fix with a restart or a wait and restart, this got worse and worse then permanent.
It was corrosion on the ecu, cleaning helped for a while, a replacement ecu fixed.
Also a similar issue on a b5 Passat which was a brake pedal switch.
Its worth taking the ecu apart, cleaning and resealing.

All that zone stuff means nothing now.
To fail needs to significantly effect the drivers view of the road, To me even a single crack straight through the middle at eye level from left to right would be a pass. Got to be be serious cracks to stop you seeing the road.
MOT is minimum standa, and just because it would pass an MOT doesn't mean police wouldnt/couldnt have something to say if they so wished.

Not looking forward to when they add cars in and then extend it.
Just another scheme to price people off of the roads...well poorer people.

I use extra wide black electric tape on my partners car in the winter, follow the lines of the sunroof and trim the corners and you cant tell its taped up from a distance, and it peels off nice once its summer.
Otherwise a flexible sealant, such as a pu sealer will do it - tidyness results will entirely depend on the skill of the person applying it.

You cant beat the renault ones, less than tenner or even a fiver delivered, 5 mins to fit and remove and they just work.
First used one in my old volvo d5 as temp fix, stayed in for 2 years, put one in my sprinter motorhome.
Also got one I'm my now daily Mercedes e320. I'm not spending £60 and hours fiddling to fit a proper one when this 5 pound one does a perfect job and takes minutes to fit.

Could always try a £5 renault inline thermostat fitted into the hose. Its a good quick fix when the thermostats a pain to get to or you have to buy an expensive housing with inbuilt thermostat.

Just a point for anyone else but don't rely on the valve to keep the gas in if its not empty.
I took a kit out of an old bmw that i thought was empty, it wasnt and the valve was stuck...open.
It was a scary experience, which could have ended badly.

Not sure i can go to any car with less power than the volvo, even though the volvo is a 2002 car it sets the comfort and quality bar pretty high.
Ive always liked e39's but i have been warned off the auto version by a few people saying the gearboxes are an annoyance when driving.
The merc is growing on me, my main concern was a wheel bearing/brake rubbing sound - which looked like brake dust shield, which had been sliced through and then bent around everything - while checking found more bodges - silicone on a split balljoint rubber and the arb just disconnected.
Think the noise is the centre prop bearing as it only does it at lowish speeds when off the throttle - touch the throttle and it stops.
List of jobs on the merc. front balljoint trackrod end arb links. rear hub has a snapped abs sensor stuck inside it so needs taking off and drilling out. rear parking brake useless boot struts useless - and £55 each
Volvo £500 clutch and dmf kit and a weekend subframe off job or drive like as steady as possible to make it last.
Been told other stuff needs to go first, before i can think about another car haha.

Background, got a 2002 v70 d5 manual which i think is going a need clutch and dmf soon. Ive also been fancying a big auto estate, so i bought a 3.2 mercedes s211 estate which i think is abit of a lemon and have a baby coming out very soon so spannering time is going to be limited.
So i really want an auto - or id fix the volvo need a estate - need to get a big mountain bike in the back normally a diesel fan but not so fussy but would like decent enough mpg - 30 absolute min around town, more the better. At the minute don't care if its abit dull - but i want heated seats, aircon and cruise control.
Budget well i normally spend at most 1k and usually a less, but will go upto 3k if needed.
I like a s211's but reading up they seem like a pain and complicated car. V70 auto - would be perfect - gearboxes auto boxes seem pretty plop.
Or stop being silly and sort the v70 which is pretty sorted now - brakes all good, loads of new suspension parts bit, belts done etc.
Any thoughts. cheers

Right - been off the road for 6-7 years. It was in use until then, it was only taken off the road so my dad could redo the inside of it (slow process for him). However my mother then died and its been sat ever since and he has no interest in doing anything to it - last moved by me about 3 years ago from where its pictured on to the road and back gain to get a car out of the garage. 2.0? water cooled engine, automatic gearbox - the engine was a rebuilt unit when they bought it and the only trouble it ever gave them in many years was a dirty carb and gearbox, which was rebuilt in their first year of ownership - at great expense. It has only ever been welded once which was small patch on the front step - obviously its been sat so it will need some more welding but its not a complete rot box from what i can see - I'm happy to get under it and take some more pictures if wanted. The engine runs! borrowed battery and some fuel down the carb to get it going and she ran well. - apart from exhaust blow - needs new exhaust for sure.- moved it back about a foot, but didnt have the engine power to move forward(flat tyre - steep drive - 7 year old fuel so no suprise) reluctant to move it further down the drive incase it wont move back under its own power. - Inside needs redoing. Located Sheffield Open to offers to see it go to a nice home and get back on the road, to me looks like a great base to start from especially compared to some of the sheds ive seen go on ebay £1200 ono

The odd use isnt going to do any damage - constant use yes maybe or if you are a moron and spray half a can in the thing.
Anything flammable will work, use brake cleaner if you wish - It would still be my next step either way.

Does it have the clear fuel lines - can you see fuel or big air bubbles? Could be an air leak into the fuel letting fuel drain back the tank. Plenty of people have problems with fuel filter causing issues.
Atleast if you can get it to fire on easy start, you know its probably fuel related. ie leaky injector/injectors, leaky pipe/fuel filter etc.
With you saying it took lots of cranking before starting, but ran fine - it sounds fuel pressure related to me.

Have you tried a bit of easy start in it?
They need a high fuel pressure to start. Only time mine has had starting issues was when warm. Started perfect from cold but if you turned off when it was warm it wouldn't start until it had cooled down. this wasa leaking injector.
The easiest way would be getting it read for codes, although i think they are a bit picky with what can read them.

cheers chaps.
Basically ive made a double swivel seat for my campervan, did all the hard work then managed to knock the end off the reel freeing the spring putting it in the van.
Kinda have to buy a full seat to get a belt and thats abit tricky at the moment.
I tried to fit a micra k11 rear seat belt but it wasn't playing ball, it is vertically mounted but leaning right and trying to fit to a to my seats its vertically mounted but tilts backwards abit.
Ill try a front one, if not ill just wait until a double seat comes up for sale.
