I want to remove the tank fitted in the spare wheel well of my Mercedes Can I just take out the tank and blank off pipe work? I have no intention of using the lpg And can’t find a local garage that can help I’ve run it down but can smell gas early In the morning on start up?? Any advice please??

The paper gives the requirements but not the method, which isn't surprising as there are many different systems.
The multivalve on the tank should have a manual isolation valve (possibly a thumb screw or similar)and possibly a solenoid valve. Before removing the pipes from the tank ensure that the tank is properly isolated (prefferably with the manual valve). Then just undo the supply pipework, remove the filler pipe, disconnect the solenoid (if fitted), disconnect the level gauge (if fitted) and remove the tank.
I'm assuming the car is using an lpg injection system and not just one with a vapouriser and mixer plate? If so, you can either leave the parts in place or take them off and sell them (a sequential kit with controller, injector solenoids, injectors, tank and wiring could make £350+ on ebay). If it is an older system with a mixer plate I would take it off and restore the inlet pipework back to standard.

I should add, do this outside and not in a garage. Any residual gas that leaks out is a potential explosion waiting to happen so working in an enclosed area is not a good idea!!

I just ran mine around until ground to a halt, drove home on petrol, pulled all the wiring out, cut the pipes and pulled the tank out, tank doesn't seem to have anything left in it. there will be a big hole in the wheel well where the vent pipe used to go you will need a grommet for.

If you get down to West Sussex at all I'll pull the tank for you as long as you've run it out of gas, they're too heavy to be lifting full!

What squonk said, to save me retyping it. The Multivalve should keep all of the gas inside.
Running the gas down low will help with getting it out.

Just a point for anyone else but don't rely on the valve to keep the gas in if its not empty.
I took a kit out of an old bmw that i thought was empty, it wasnt and the valve was stuck...open.
It was a scary experience, which could have ended badly.

LPG is heavier than air, so just doesn't drop a cigarette or do it over an open drain. Also there is either a thumb screw or tap to physically turn off the gas as well as the solenoid valve on most conversions.
Theres a well known story about a transit driving into a flogas depot that had a major leak as he ignored the frantic people trying to stop him - the engine just stopped.
