Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: Not a proper "van" as such but remove the rear seat rows and it's pretty big in there. Also definitely retro these days, won't suffer from rusty bodywork since much of it is plastic, has a good chance of getting 25 mpg if you're careful, will drive vastly better than most old vans and you should at least be able to make it vaguely secure. Bad points: Rare as poor quality wobbly children's play pony poo these days.

I'm not a fan of Corsas myself but they're no more or less worthy than any other car of similar age to feature on here. There are plenty of bad ones but there are more than a few good ones too - some of the ones above look pretty tidy, whether they're influenced by the all-pervasive VW scene or not.
They have potential, which is the main thing.

Ace. Actually been half-heartedly looking for one of these recently as I reckon they have huge potential. Hated them when I was a kid, when they came out, but getting on for 20 years down the line there's something quite appealing about them.

A few I enjoy. Hopefully they aren't reposts - I'd have gone through the thread to check, but any more than a few Youtube vids per page really slows down the loading process!
Feeder - Tumble and Fall (Saab 900 towards the end, which meets a bit of a sticky end...)
The Sugars - Black Friday (Nissan Figaro)

Good to know I'm not the only one oddly fond of slightly curse word USDM cars... Sunfire: PPIHC08 0299 by jbspec7, on Flickr (Hard to find ones that haven't been atrociously modified, though) Paseo: Again, tricky to find tasteful Paseos. I feel like they've got loads of potential though.

Soft spot for these, as my dad owned one, as did my grandpa, and we've had several other Renaults in the family too.
However, I'd echo the "beware"-type comments - my dad's one chewed through two gearboxes in its first 25k miles, thankfully under warranty. Wasn't his driving either - he'd done 90k miles in a Renault 19 with the same engine, without issues.
Nice car when it wasn't eating cogs though, nice to look at, comfy seats and reasonably frugal. And I'm often of the belief that if one has managed to last this long, it was probably built okay to start with and could be worth a punt.

Can't say I like the exterior additions to that but rather fond of Astros in general. Rented one for two weeks when I was in the U.S. in September - made a great camper and it was oddly satisfying to float along in. Less chance of yours overheating in the U.K. than mine did out in the States though!

As above, love the attention to detail on this. Nice to see so much care being lavished upon something that many other people wouldn't give a second glance. Really interested to see how this progresses.

Bookmarked. Your Retro Cars cover car was by a long way the best Nova I've ever seen - can't wait to see how this one goes too.

^ Agreed.
Put it this way: I don't think many people who own pre-war cars were alive when the cars were new, but they still like the cars and have the passion for them. It's the same with today's classics - they won't disappear just because today's teens aren't interested in them (even though some are). Peoples' tastes change - since I've been interested in cars I've been interested in the racing stuff, the Max Power-type stuff, various other trends, and of course the retro stuff. Nowadays I'm interested in pretty much all of it, and I don't doubt that many others will go through the same stages.
People know what they have these days too. The decline of stuff like MGBs will be so much slower these days than it might have been in the 80s or 90s as the ones that are left tend to be in good hands.
My own hope is that some of the stuff that people currently don't care about - a lot of the 90s stuff, for instance - is saved before it goes the same way. Ford Mondeos for example - once ubiquitous, but how many mint-condition Mk1 Mondeos do you see now? I reckon younger buyers will take up that responsibility of saving stuff they remember their dads driving, just as previous generations have done.

Really enjoying this. Some great work on the suspension and the chrome looks fab too - really makes a difference to the 924 I reckon. Firmly seats it in the 1970s, somehow a little more suave than the 80s versions.

Soft spot for 19s. My dad had a couple and rated them highly - among the most reliable cars he's owned, against all expectations.
Seem to recall reading many a year back that even the Germans were fond of them - well built, apparently! My personal favourite is the Phase 2 Chamade, preferably in Midnight Blue. Good looking cars. Off to eBay...

Nice pics, you've grabbed several that I didn't manage to, which is cool. My own favourite of the event (that I got pics of, at least) was the Lancia Aprilia (apologies for Instagram-ness): Something about the 30s styling but compact proportions that really appeals. And the badge, and the V4 of course... Of those I didn't snap I really liked the early pre-facelift Citroen BX.

It's a pity they seem so god-awful, as I've always liked the way they look. If they were the first cars of Mercedes' decline, they were the last of the old-school solid-looking ones with nice simple lines.
I have to say though, I've been lucky enough to drive several brand-new Mercs over the recent years and they're all pretty nice these days. Feel very well-built, all drive pretty well (apart from the B-Class - that thing is hopeless) and even the manual gearboxes aren't that bad these days. Apart from in the B-Class, again...

I like it with the trim ring.
Those are also the best idea I've seen in a long time. Instant style change for any wheel.

Big fan of A2s. As others have said, hugely ahead of their time and the mix of Audi badge/aluminium/high mpg means they hold their value pretty well these days. I consider them pretty much every time I'm looking for a new car. One of these days I'll probably go through with it...
It's a shame that Audi's smallest model now is just a Polo in a frock.

Really nice. Understated and tasteful, which wasn't always the case with these back in the day. Two-tone is a nice touch.
