Most probably not retro enough for many, but its 21 years old now and you hardly see any of them on the road so that's good enough for me. She's pretty low! Ive fitted a RS2000 front bumper too. She has a 2 litre Zetec transplant so its got a bit of punt to keep up with modern traffic Pretty straight underneath for an old girl! And ive just added a Laguna splitter. Poor pic but you get the idea. Ive got a mk5 RS2000 bonnet ready to go on but after an Escort Cosworth grill before fitting. Hopefully one will turn up at cheap-as-chips money soon! Also after a set of EsCos wheels (she has EsCos front brakes already!) too.

Ive uploaded them all from photobucket in the same way!? :-( When Photobucket renames files, it gives them a long string of numbers as filenames which Proboards sometimes doesn't like - maybe try using Flickr or Imgur instead? Car looks ace though - really rare sight these days, and you're keeping it subtle. Nice.

Really nice. Understated and tasteful, which wasn't always the case with these back in the day. Two-tone is a nice touch.

Thanks for the kind words, folks. Need to get a Cossie grill and then my RS2000 bonnet can go on which should help it mean up a little along with the cossie lights I have ready to go on too!

Fantastic! I love it. My cousin who I credit with my love of modified cars had a similar orion.

very nice chap! I can't remember the last time I saw one of these on the road. Excellent choice of mods, looks very purposeful, some people go way OTT and chav these up so very nice to see such a nice tidy example being done right! The two tone also adds to the class IMO. Big thumbs up!

That looks really nice in a nostalgic way. I once had a mk2 orion 1.6i ghia(the one with that fuel computer which used to bong alot, and that creaky speaker balance joystick), not a bad little car to drive but i remember it having the worst liftoff oversteer ever.
I bet that goes well with the zetec, as these must weight not much over a ton. Whats the chassis like handling wise?

I like everything about this, except for the grille I'm afraid. The white over grey is awesome, I like the ride height, the wheels....everything. But, personally, the grille just jars on an otherwise clean, tidy, cohernet and understated car. It doesn't line up with the cut-out in the bumper and the vertical 'sides' just stop in mid-air. If there was a white section running along the bottom it would probably look more balanced, but as it is, it looks like something is missing or badly fitted. If it were my car (which it's not, so please tell me to jog-on), I would go for the early type grille from the XR3i. Cleaner and neater. It works better than the Cosworth grille and is a million times nice than the gaping 'mono-nostril' of the facelifted bonnet and grille. The other thing I reckon would add a really awesome retro touch is the addition of orange indicators. And maybe satin black on the door frames on the b-pillars (in line with the windows/rubbers) The early Mk5 Escort/Mk3 Orion is a car that's simply too overlooked and far too quickly disappearing in my opinion. Seeing someone doing something cool with one is a winner....nice work.

Seeing someone doing something cool with one is a winner....nice work. Really appreciate the input. Thank you. I know exactly what you mean. It has bothered me too but now its been refitted it doesnt bother me quite as much. At some point, id like to make two semi circular plinths for the ends of the grill to sit on and paint them black. This is on the list of things to do, currently topped by "get heater working!!" For info I did try a stock grill panel. Its the wrong colour but just looked a bit dull to me? What do you think? Luckily, I used to sell loads of headlight tint film on ebay and have some orange tint knocking around. I might 'wrap' the indicators and see how they look. Good call! Would love a set of cossie rims for her but nearly fell off my chair when I realised the price of them nowadays. They were £200 a couple of years ago?! :-0
