Sign of the times when peeps on this forum are commenting about cars having too much stretch. I guess the fashion must have peaked. I'm not a fan of huuuge stretch myself, but have noticed a few comments echoing this recently.

Sign of the times when peeps on this forum are commenting about cars having too much stretch. I was never a fan of extreme stretch, and I like it on silly cars (Bosozoku etc.) but ever since having a tire come off a rim (was at the correct pressure) I've since stuck with proper fitting tires only. I think it looks ok on some cars, but I prefer a bit of sidewall and contact patch

Interesting link, Hotwire . Looked up Battle stance, and according the the urban dictionary innit: "Battle Stanced 9K Racing Battle Stanced Track ready cars who care about performance and looks. Stretch tires are lame as curse word so beef it up with some meaty tire fitment. Ready to rock "That 550hp car is mad battle stanced with those 335/40/18 tires in the rear" Now I know.

It's fairly obvious i know, but a R19 would look really good wearing a set of Modern Lines.

Wow, Battle stance is my new fave thing. Hurrah for sensible wheel fitment!

Decent cars the old 19's (the 16v version specifically), I've owned 5 or 6 myself. They've got a bit of a following over here now and are a rare beast, particularly the Phase 1 which was only made for a short time, and they go and handle bloody well (if looked after). Take a look over on Retro-Renault.com if you're interested. I think the general feeling, over here at least, is that Renault actually did a pretty good job on these things and they don't need too much buggering about to get them looking good. A decent set of wheels, if anything, and you're away. The Phase 1 particularly is now oh so retro cool too in my opinion and it would be shame to spoil those classic early 90's lines Chap over on Retro Renault (Neal) did a full nut and bolt, documented restoration on a Phase 1 a few years back and it's probably the best in country (if not further). Worth checking out that one. www.retro-renault.com/forums/renault-1990-1992/97-black-hatch.html

Soft spot for 19s. My dad had a couple and rated them highly - among the most reliable cars he's owned, against all expectations.
Seem to recall reading many a year back that even the Germans were fond of them - well built, apparently! My personal favourite is the Phase 2 Chamade, preferably in Midnight Blue. Good looking cars. Off to eBay...

I'm not sure I get it Why are so many of the cars in their gallery, on stretched tyres?
