I'm sure it's minor but if it can't be fixed with a hammer I don't want to know.Good man ;D As for the rest of it, sounds good. I half suspected the stuff in the footwell was the remnants of carpeting but it was doing a damned good impression of rust so I thought I'd ask! In that case, I'd like to come and have a look at the car. I'd be able to pop down Friday at the earliest (as it's quite a trek, I'm in Newcastle and my parents - and therefore my temporary base - are in Leeds) so if it's not already sold by Friday I'd be happy to arrange a time with you to view it. My other question is, as it's untaxed, is there a postie nearby that I could tax the car at should I decide to drive it back that day? Actually on that note, as a 74 I'm presuming it's not exempt, is that £130-odd a year then?

Few questions about Roland! - Firstly, do you reckon he'd make it up to Leeds from Essex? - Secondly, the rust that is there - how drastic is it? All just surface stuff or are there any holes that will need urgent attention? The passenger footwell looks rather oxidised, is it cosmetic and sorted with sanding and painting or will it need re-welding? - The spaghetti of wires: daft as this may sound, is it just cosmetic and needs stashing away or are they connected to a bunch of things that aren't working and will need sorting? Cheers for any info

Ah, a Visa, brilliant! First car I remember my mum owning when I was growing up. She had one in red, A-reg, and the same model as far as I can recall. Remember it not starting on many, many occasions!
Even more chuffed to see you've got one from the same era too. Earlier ones were pretty damn ugly with a pug-nosed grille, and later ones lost the crazy pod to the side of the instruments that I remember distinctly from my mum's car, which yours has.
Intrigued to see what you do with it, but part of me'd like to see it restored as there must only be a handful left in this country now.

Will this do? Really difficult to find modded Robins. Would love to see one low on fat steelies. Anyone find any cool London black cabs? Austin FX4s, etc.

According to Police it was actually found by a member of the public, who'd heard shouting/screaming and gone to have a look, to find my empty, damaged car with nobody in it. It'd had an arguement with a roadside barrier I think.
Suspect it's a write-off. My phone has been playing up so I've missed a call from the insurers' inspectors who've taken a look at it, but it's only a grands' worth of car and there's more than a grand's worth of damage.
I'm looking for a newer (non-MX5) car now to replace it and suspect anything salvagable from the MX5 I'll just sell, but I'm not staying away from MX5s forever, maybe a few years down the line I'll get one again.

Didn't want my second post in the forum to be this but unfortunately it's happened. My white 1991 mazda MX5 has just been stolen, at about 21:45 from West Jesmond in Newcastle. Police have already been round and it's been picked up on a few ANPR cameras, last seen on the A69 having also been seen on the A1. Pictures: If anybody sees it, spots it on ebay or anything, please let me know ASAP. Any information will be very much appreciated.
