One of the most hated cars of it's time. I wasn't a fan when they first drove out of the factory but I needed a car and this happened to be available for $300. I've been a reader here for a short while as i've been looking for ideas to use on my 121. Here's my thread: I didn't think this small car would be so fun. It's so light and wouldn't need much work to improve it. At the moment it needs rear shocks. I might get the springs cut while in the process. It's not in the best nick. There are plenty of dents and scratches which don't bother me too much, the motor runs perfectly, if anything I think the handling could be improved. New shocks should help at the same time cutting the springs won't. I'd love to be able to have MX5 bits on. I'm just not sure what will fit. The wheels will, it'd also be nice to squeeze a 1.8 in

I liked these at the time. Their looks made quite an impression in the early 90s although they look almost conservative by modern standards. I think most of the UK ones came with autoboxes and full length sunroofs. Yours looks pretty solid.

I also quite like these, they're like 3 bubble shape instead of 3 box shape!

I like these, yes most UK cars were Auto's with big sunroofs - as thats what we wanted over here.... apparently lol My dad always wanted one, but they cost to much & were Auto & had a big canvas sun roof - neither of which he wanted lol.

Yeah I saw a few on this site with fun tops. There aren't many in Australia. Though there are many many hardtops. Either way I love this car. I read that kJ laser discs are a direct swap (I think it could use more stopping power) and civic coil overs may fit.

Haha yeah the ideas keep piling. It's fun dreaming though.
I don't mind a little bit if camber. I have the camber bolts from whiteline ready to go on. I'll install them after it has been dropped a little. It might not even be noticeable, they only give 1.5 degrees camber.

Ace. Actually been half-heartedly looking for one of these recently as I reckon they have huge potential. Hated them when I was a kid, when they came out, but getting on for 20 years down the line there's something quite appealing about them.

I've had my eye out for one in the uk for last 5 years or so not seen a single one for sale or even on the road. Loads of potential and the only car I can think of that has such a perfect silhouette of a bowler hat on wheels. Watching with interest.
*Commentators curse! There's a French registered left hooker on evil bay right now - get saving people lol.

So I've done a few little things. I changed the shocks over and cut 1.5 coils of the rear springs. It's not low but at least it sits level.before and after shots below. and a fun shot haha I've looked into lowered springs. I'm considering that option ($420 for 4) but I might end up just cutting my existing ones all round when I get another chance. I also bought and installed a K&N air filter. It seems like it runs nicer but that might just be in my head

bought these today They're 15" x 6" compared to the 14" x 5.5" i have on now. can't wait to install them. one tyre has a small leak which i hope is an easy fix. I saw an add for a mazda 2 with aftermark wheels so i asked the seller if she was willing to sell the stockies. so happy days. They should help with adding grip to taking off

Gave the wheels a good wash and pumped them up, they came out really good. Sadly i didn't put the wheels on as I noticed the tyre with the air leak also had a bubble buldging out the side. Of the set i bought, 1 tyre looked new and the other 3 are kind of worn if i can find the hankook brand I'll get 1 new tyre.

When I bought the car it had the foul smell of off cream. I searched different ways eliminate this smell, on my first attempt I rubbed shaving cream into the seats, threw baking powder over it all, let it sit closed up for an hr and vacuumed it up. It smelt fresh but the cream smell was still kind of there. After a few weeks I used a goo remover on a suspicious brown mark on the rear seat and used a fabric foam cleaner. It worked a treat. My gf says she can still smell it every now and then. I'm either immune or it's gone. Unfortunatly the rip in the drivers seat isn't as easy to fix. I bought some loose seat covers which do the job till I can find later model seats that fit. The other day a new wooden gear knob came in the post. I thought it was cool at the time but now I think it's kinda lame. I tried fitting it but need to make the hole larger. The good thing is that I don't have to use the taxi driver gel sticker. Overall I like the look of the interior.

Oh and I was supposed to get a new tyre and mount the wheels today but funds are tight due to fewer working days. I might leave it for a few more weeks

Try coffee grounds to get the smell out of the car. I was a sceptic until my wife spilt 4 pints of milk in the back of her 2 week old car..
Put the coffee grounds over the effected area, left it over night and hoovered out the following morning.
Taa Daa!!!!!!! Milk smell gone!
Try it!
