Pulling apart an engine that has been sat in a garage for over 30 years, at some time prior to that one of the plugs had a repair insert fitted, which is now seized onto the plug. Plug now broken, so drilling it out of the insert is the next step, but would be handy to know what the insert is if it all goes even more pear shaped Ps the straight lines are vice grip Mark's, another reason sourcing a replacement would be preferable Ttfn Glenn

I presume here Spake is playing the charades game where you put the card on your forehead? Or is it Indian poker? We put a sticker on sweeps head for a bit of fun, and he seemed to enjoy it, trotting around all day, very pleased with himself Ttfn Glenn

Lift still not finished, been concentrating on a tidy up as the place was a disaster area My caddy van filled up with junk and lots of, that will be useful one day items, All gone now. Sorted out loads of bins that were now surplus Arranged a new home for them, but still loads to tidy up But starting to see the end now Beetle neatly away Space for more bikes? Or just a stupid collie? Few more days may see the tidying finished, then I can finish the lift installation Ttfn Glenn

one of the posts leans out more than I'd expect, certainly more than the other one. I was told that a slight lean out is normal but I'd assume they should be equal Good luck with it! Snap-on sent me a pdf for my lift, it says the uprights should lean out slightly but they should both be equal. The specification for my lift is 2cm wider at the top than the bottom and should be equal, so 1cm per column. Have to give snap-on customer support a big thumbs up , sent me a copy of the full manual for my lift, now I can set my lift up to proper specifications Ttfn Glenn

Sweep is a terrible dog to photograph, perhaps he is camera shy. Son and myself had another session on the lift, both columns now up, just need to find the bolts for it now Definitely gaining progress. Bought some extras for the pressure washer, makes it far more useable Try another picture of sweep and see if can get him looking any less stupid Ttfn Glenn

Bought myself a 2nd hand Hoffmann Europa 3000kg lift a while back, have replaced the lift nuts, and now ready to put it up. Will need some advice on setting it up What should the gap between the lift and safety nuts ? Should I shim the uprights to vertical or just bolted to the base plate? How do I set up the safety wire ? Thanks in advance Glenn And since everyone likes pictures, here's the offending item And what the failed lift nut looked like when I got it And the nice shiny new one Yes I did replace both sides Ttfn Glenn

Second lift nut replaced and the columns all back together, next will be the fun of getting them upright and into position Son has put his projects on hold so he can get my cbr1000f back up and running, only been dead for 15 years Quick clean of the carbs and stick a battery in. Took a couple of attempts, then kicked into life, coughed a bit then up onto all 4. Son is getting this one sorted as my birthday present Sweep keeping us company Ttfn Glenn

Just petrol............ My luck just gets better....... Definitely, easy to remove the rubbish paint, treat the rust then paint it yourself, take your time and end up with the results you want Ttfn Glenn

Couple of years ago I picked up a 2 post lift in need of some repairs, One of the lift nuts needed replacement, started pulling it apart, then suffered a major mojo failure, so it sat getting in the way since, Encouragement from son got me back into the mood to get it working So far one lift nut replaced and started pulling the other one apart Ttfn Glenn

The crankcase repair has started but put on hold until more jb weld arrives Son has been having a tidy up at the shed, also giving me grief about not getting the two post lift, up and running, so have decided to crack on with it and ordered some new lift nuts. With the shed somewhat tidy, there was space for another project, and Facebook obliged with a 41 year old Suzuki that has been off the road since 88. Mostly there but a fair bit of surface rust, various bits have been pirated over the years, so will have to start scouring Ebay for some bits Suzuki gs550 katana An example of what sitting around for so many years has done to it, is the air filter And the the alloy engine Ttfn Glenn Forgot to say, this is sons project not mine

What I thought was a crack turned out to be a touch more serious So that's a hole in the crankcase then, will be trying a jb weld repair, see if the reality is as good as the tales Ttfn Glenn

if its a race bike has it ever been registered? Was it stolen prior to being used as a track bike would be my concern... There is a website, isitnicked.com/ and for free they will tell you part of the registration and if it is nicked Ttfn Glenn
