That is a formidable car history, you've owned some seriously nice metal over the years!
Just out of interest, why do you say avoid Alfa 155s? I've often fancied one but I'm used to German cars so never taken the plunge

That is a truly stunning collection. Am I the only person who wonders if he employs someone to wipe the oil drips off those gloss white plinths?

Excellent! Hopefully this restores your love for the old bus, at least temporarily if nothing else!

That is ace!
If it were mine I'd bin off the roof rack altogether but it's not my car, it's yours.
I really like the crosshair lamps and the grille badge, the raked stance is killer.
I think it's got a kind of salt flats racer look to it

Oooh I like this game! I broke my record and got through 5 this year... Mid January saw me car-less, but that all changed when I introduced myself to the smell of aging leather, RWD and V8 in the snow: After a few months, having realised that it had a drinking habit akin to that of the late George Best, I decided to sell the barge, and opt for something still Bavarian, but a little more frugal: Around August I got the itch again, so I offloaded the E36 to a nice chap who works at the pleasurebeach, and a quick shufty round Pistonheads found me a car high up on my 'must own' list: Fast forward to September when a mate emailed me at work asking 'do you know any scrappers who will take this away?' and the inevitable happened. I bought a Golf with NOTHING going for it. Bum grape red, bit scabby, no T or T and a suspect head gasket. Needless to say much swearing and skinned knuckles saw it MOT'd and for sale. Not a bad car by the end of it, but the grief of the repairs saw me completely out of love with it. Meanwhile the E28 has been laid up for winter. Two trips in the ice and snow almost saw me bend the thing, as it was impossible to keep in a straight line. 10 inch wheels on the rear + RWD = ice and snow fail! The only interest I had in the Bum Grape Golf was a nice chap in Crewe who wanted to swap it with his MK2, so off I went last week and came back with this: I'm very happy with it, it's been 100% reliable thus far and very good in the snow. It's been a good year, I have high hopes for 2011!

The AA man told you the timing chain is tensioned by oil pressure, and it's clearly got a timing belt, which is clearly not tensioned by oil.
Seriously? What kind of chimps do the AA employ?
It makes me weep how many uninformed people get ripped off by this utter garbage advice they give out. My missus was almost one of those, another KA, 'it's your head gasket love'
On a more positive note, my wife used to have a 6N2 Polo with that engine, it had the same fault and it turned out to be the top oil pressure switch (one in the head if I remember right)

Have a p1ss poor shot off my phone from that meet. By FAR the coolest car there, including the rather tasty Nova that was parked opposite!

Thank you very much MM!
Installed and ready to use.
As for my desktop, this is my works laptop - and it's in a right mess. I never get 5 mins to clean it up. I'm a lot more disciplined with the Mac at home...

This may seem a silly question but...
How does one go about using the font? I now have a file on my desktop, but how do I add it to the font list in, say, word?

Looks like a case of a 'more than my job's worth' postie.
Always useful to find a reliable post office who know the score

You've got a really patient, methodical and precise way with your cars, that I wish I could muster myself. I guess that comes with your day job?
I also wish the MOT on my cars 20-30 years newer than this went as smoothly!
Perhaps there's a correlation between the two....

My wife had the same problem with our Skoda Felicia when she started driving. Parking was very difficult for her with no PAS, even though it was on 165 tyres all round.
I guess a quick drive and a trial parking it is a must with any potential purchase

From what I can gather IOWG is a very small operation, and very busy.
I've had prompt personal responses from Dee for all my (custom) sticker requests and have only had friendly, reasonably priced, and efficient service from them.
There aren't a lot of places around that will indulge requests for single or low volume custom sticker designs, unless you pay through the nose, so I'd say in that respect they are excellent.

I can recommend Blackpool. It's a curse word hole, which can make for some nice pictures. Here are a couple of mine (I'm still learning this photography lark)

My biggest oh shhiiiiii moment was with my modern Honda Civic daily, I'd had it about a week. Our house was on a steep hill, intersected by the M66 motorway, our house was just uphill of the bridge over the motorway. I was unloading a set of wheels out of the boot of the Civic in the alley at the back of the house (Civic facing downhill, handbrake on a good 4 clicks) and when I rested my knees on the back bumper to lift a wheel out the car proceeded to roll away. I managed to scramble into the car and yank the handbrake on just in time. Had the car rolled away, it would have broken a ramshackle fence and plunged down the embankment towards the inside lane of the southbound M66!! At the request of the wife I called the AA out to it with a suspected handbrake fault, and the chap came, yanked the handbrake on and off a few times, took it for a run round the block and concluded that I'd not put it on far enough. The comment on the sheet he left said: 'Test driven - Restored customer's confidence in handbrake' 3 months later Honda issued a recall on all late model Civic handbrake mechanisms...

1.8 8 valve. Power steering, central locking, manual windows.
Being a Driver means it has the GTi style interior which is comfier than the standard stuff.
