So, heres my mk1 golf, ill let the pictures do the talking!
Well I bought it about 2 years ago... As a rolling shell...
I did a bit of work on it at first.. Getting rid of the rusty bits etc etc, mainly getting it ready to be sprayed, after a month or so of that I soon got bored.. It then sat in my drive for about a year, then I got inspiration from friends.
So I started...
First came the nitro-mors..
At this point I wasnt really sure what I wanted to do with it... But carried on
I got persuaded by Lil to do the whole car bare metal... Which I wasnt too sure about cos, as you can see in the above piccy, its a bit dull, and probably pretty difficult to get it all off with just Nitro-mors, but she was like, why don't you sand it all? So I did...
Once I started I thought it looked pretty cool... So I decided to carry on with the whole car.
This is how it looks close up...
So it was all finished with a couple of coats of lacquer. Now I needed an engine! So after doing some searching I found this in bridgwater.
Its a 1983 1.3 driver.. And for £175 how could I resist! (Although quite a few of you thought id never find one for that sort of money )
First I had to get the engine running... As it hadnt properly run for years... After taking the carb apart and doing a bit of cleaning, a new battery, and cleaning the points, she ran! Not particularly well I must admit, but at least I knew it ran and I could start with the engine transplant.
Out it comes!
And in it goes!
Then a few more coats of lacquer and the fitting parts back on begins.
I did fit bucket seats into it... But as its only got a 1.3 I thought it a little pointless and frankly, they didnt suit the car.. So I put switched the front seats with my mk2 gti and fitted some rainbow's into it.
It was then MOT time! Which tbh, wasnt toooo bad.. Obviously needed bits and pieces doing to it but nothing major.
Once it had passed I then proceeded to get it sitting nicely.. Which in this picture its not exactly but at least it was lower!
Some nice drive shaft wear! (had to make it a bit higher because I got this much wear in 1 night of driving it ).
I gave it some camber on the rears as well
This is just copied from another forum I put it on around a year ago, these are some photos since then!
Stripped some old seats down to bare frame:
They were pretty uncomfy, so put some fur over them to help a bit!
Thought id put a boso style exhaust on it! also sprayed the wheel a different colour ; Ford olympic blue and added a few items to the roof rack:
The fuzz were all over me like a rash to say the least about the exhaust, had to cut it off .
Different seats and door card fur...
Smaller front tyres, and a big notch taken out of chassis leg. Heres how it is now!
Thats pretty much it, off the road over the winter, so lots going on! Keep tuned in.
