Evening. If anybody tells you start up life is glamorous kick them swiftly in the Jacobs.... My wife currently drives the ultra glamorous and desirable Vauxhall Corsa 2004 in the much sought after 3 cylinder variant, an instant classic..... Clutch went to the floor today so had to go and collect her and said Corsa. Quick bit of diagnosis and I think it is the clutch master cylinder that has given up the ghost. This is my diagnosis procedure so can somebody that is more in tune with Vauxhall’s check over my thought process. 1. Topped off brake master cylinder, clutch pumped by my able assistant. 2. With clutch pedal held down released bleed nipple on slave cylinder - no fluid. 3. With nipple open pumped clutch pedal. - no fluid. 4. Removed fluid pipe from slave cylinder, pumped clutch pedal - very little fluid, 5. Everything reattached, head under dash, no sign of fluid but when pedal pumped sounds like fluid bubbling. Prognosis - clutch master cylinder failed. Or... have I missed something? No room under dash so it is going to be a right basthardo to replace but a darn sight better than the slave which would require the box out. Anyone agree with my diagnosis? Thanks. P.

The Super Fiesta’s gearbox has been noisy for a few thousand miles now so going to pull it and replace the diff bearings. So looking for a replacement box I can throw in and keep the original as a spare. Anybody got a low mileage gearbox in the shed they want to swap for a few pictures of the Queen? P.

The Super Fiesta (tm) had a major event over the weekend as rolled over the 200k mark in BlueWaters car park, how glamorous.... Nearly missed it so the picture is on the slip road taken by my son from the back seat before anyone calls foul! Purchased new in April 2004 for the princely sum of £6400 this has been a bit of a family feature. All my children have learnt to drive in Super, has transported the Big Block for my 56, the small block for the pick up, trees, logs, children to Uni, children back from Uni and apart from 2 years when it sat in my garage as it was surplus to requirements has braved the elements on my drive way its entire life. So far has had a clutch, 3 front springs and a pair of front legs - because I couldn’t get the top mount off to replace the broken springs, a tail pipe an alternator, front disks, a rear hub, numerous windscreens a heater rheostat a door mirror glass, due to a careless au pair, and that’s about it other than the usual service items.. A bit battered and bruised but now pretty much free motoring, wonder where I will be for 300K? So who has put the most miles on a car, not how many it has traveled in total, and where did you achieve you milestones? P.

1st Gen Volvo 850R Saloon in yellow I asked for it as my company car and the Directors of the time thought that it was a Volvo, something sensible, he's growing up ect ect. How little they understood until it turned up in the company car park Separated at birth? I had a yellow T5R estate as a company car after the Lotus Carlton debacle on the premise that we were not allowed any more “ performance cars masquerading as ordinary saloons”. They didn’t learn however as I then got a V70R in racing gold when the lease came up.... Happy carefree days when somebody else was footing the bill.... P.

Thought quite long before posting this up because... well... you know. Anyway. 2003 Porsche 996.2 GT3RS. The first customer car in the UK and originally one of 99 UK supplied cars - think they ended up importing 113 at the end. Absolutely loved this car, collected it from the factory did the usual suspension mods and tracked it mercilessly all over the UK and Europe. Many, many tales with this car, including being used by Top Gear, reaching a verified 202mph, a Le Mans trip that meant I could never go again and my introduction to the Carreras Cup. Had lots and lots of Porsche’s including a 1 of 8 993 Turbo S, 73,RS light weight an absolutely horrible driving 964 RS in Fuchsia blah blah blah curse word picture as my PC decided that it didn’t like its hard drive anymore, taken at Bedford on one of the evening events we ran there. Managed to wee myself right off now! P.

Grizz, Buy what makes you happy. As for the mechanical stuff I have a full compliment of hammers, pretty sure we can fix it, lower it and do burnouts, what ever it is... What about a 57 station wagon? Know where there is one in the uk that needs some “work” P.

My eldest and youngest Sons hired the Civic for the Castle Combe track day as a 21st experience and can honestly say we had the best day out. For anyone considering it don’t hesitate. Ross runs a really good track day, the car is beautifully prepared and Andy was on hand to a) make sure we were not complete idiots and b) once he had confirmed we were gave pointers to upgrade(downgrade?) us to competent idiots.... Only broke it (sort of ) twice and to my shame got black flagged twice much to the amusement of my boys. We enjoyed it so much that we are going to compete in the Club750 endurance series next year running a... Civic! For some reason I can’t share a picture but will edit later to include. P.

But then every now and again.... Had a guy ride up my drive way when I had my 56 outside the garage doing something or rather. Always a little unsettling when somebody turns up like that but.... Ended up talking to him for hours. Turns out he was ex Ford and was responsible for engineering on the original xr3i. He often turns up when I am working in the garage, would even say he has become a friend of sorts. Then you get the other visitors who offer to tarmac your drive and then you catch red handed trying to break the garage door down 2 days later.... P.

Phew! If you said a 4l60e I was going to suggest selling it in the states and getting an 80e if you are planning any mods. Have a look at the Holley terminator X computer and harness, heard really good things about them and at $990 a bargain when you consider you will probably have to spend $600ish on a HP tuners package and you get a brand new unpacked harness to boot! Oh what fun you are going to have! P.

[quote author=" pork" source="/post/2510350/thread" timestamp="1559843507 After playing with the old mans ls3 and hearing that........I measured it up, and it’s only slightly bigger than my cossie v6 😮 So I’ve sold it 😂 ......and sourced a 5.3 lm7 (truck ls, iron block) loom and gear box from the states, should be here by end of July [/quote] A wise choice! I would suggest that you make yourself familiar with Matt Happel of Sloppy Mechanic fame, a Sloppy stage 2 cam, decapped injectors and a Chinese Choo Choo for 500hp of cheap power! What are you using as a gearbox? P.

Hey Daz, As we discussed, feel that there are multiple problems here not least of which is the massive earth leak as feeling the electricity running through my foot when I touched the side pipes is definitely not normal!! To help with others diagnosis:- There is fuel. The spark is very weak and yellow not blue/white The voltage across the coil is very low, non existent Ran an earth from the battery to the block and ran a separate live to the coil. This year has an HEI so no ballast resistor. Daz, I have a working HEI you can use as discussed you just need to work out where/when you can collect it. It will run, just needs a little more looking into after being parked for all that time. P.

For my 1000 post I was going to give an update on Woody but as there is no update to give why don't you all bring your chair closer to the fire whilst I pull on my finest knitted jumper and tell you tales of dare and do from a simpler time whilst I rock gently back and forth in my best Val Donnigan style... The late 90's on my way home from head office in Leeds near Junction 19 on the M1 heading south. Now somebody had told me that this particular stretch of motorway fell between two constabularies and as such was not patrolled so was my favorite bit of the trip home as I would 'allegedly' see how close to the manufacturers top speed I could get. The M1 is a bit different now but it used to be a clear section with a very gentle curve to the left. Anyway, It was a clear road with very light HGV traffic on the inside lane and nothing else in front or behind so I rolled into the throttle to see what was what. As the speedo continued to rise and was showing an indicated 17 or 18mph I noticed a pair of lights in the rear view mirror as I rounded the gentle curve before they disappeared from view... mmmm.... I wonder.... came off the throttle, didn't touch the brakes and moved over to the inside lane. Now I would like to say that what happened next was completely planned but it was pure coincidence. By this time I realised it was her Majesty's finest so though that I would come off at the A14 and take the more scenic route home, speed had dropped to around 45 as the junction came up and I was between two lorries and filtered off left just as a) teh lorry behind me pulled out to overtake and b) the Volvo 850 came by with everything going. I felt like I was Burt Reynolds for about 10 seconds as they went past and I pulled off but it was not to be a clean get away as I was spotted and had to brake very hard to avoid the Jam Sandwich as it cut across the lorries and dived down the slip road in front of me at the very last second. What then proceeded was 30 minutes of good cop bad cop with me sitting in the back of the car being told that they knew it was me, they had video evidence and if I just admitted to speeding they would put down I was doing 99mph or else they would arrest me and I would experiance the full force of the law. I pleaded my innocence told them it wasn't me but I did get passed by another black car before I pulled off. They knew I was lying. I knew that they knew I was lying. They knew that I knew that they knew I was lying. So lets go to the tape..... Or rather lets not as there was nothing, yes there was a tape, yes they had the info up about the lights being on and he speed they were traveling but what was not shown was any other car.... Did the usual producer, car was only 6 months old so nothing to see there, and was set free into the night. They followed me the rest of the way down the A14 flashed the lights and pulled up to me at the final roundabout - told me I was a very lucky boy and next time I would be spending the night in a cell.... Drove the rest of the way home at 65mph.... There are others but the nicest pull I got was whilst driving my 56. There is a bit of dual carriage way that goes through the middle of the City with traffic lights and controlled crossings, perfect for a little late night re enactment of American Graffiti. Was sitting at the lights when an Evo8/9 pulls up along side me with 2 coppers in it. The driver toots his horn to draw my attention (I knew they were there...) and starts to tell me about how they keep hearing about this car but it is the first time they have seen it out and about. Then proceeds to give me a lecture about responsibility, setting an example, blah blah blah. All very good natured. we have been sitting for a few minutes so lights are about to start changing when he says. " Go on then' and starts to rev the Evo. Game on! Bring the old girl up on the two step and ended up drag racing the local pursuit car. Yes he had me away from the lights but did him in second gear. Being an old git I have other tales but that will do for now Children, I have to go to work..... P.
