Ive owned roughly 30 BMW's in the past 12 years. Mainly pre 2000 i must admit very rarely had major issues. I have owned an E90 M3 since Feb which is a 2009 and this era of BMW M cars have tolerances on the bottom end bearing that are too tight. The M3 and M5 suffer from this and grenade themselves when the bearing wear. Ive had mine done to prevent this happening but honestly apart from that its been spot on having done a few thousand road and track miles. I did 200miles on track in one day at Spa! Certainly all the new stuff looks very samey and i hate the fact that its all autos. wo wants a performance car with an auto...yuck! They only made 430 pre facelift 4 door M3 in RHD so that was part of the reason i bought one. Also 414bhp out the box and a car that only with spring and brake pad upgrades it could keep up with most things on track in essentially stock form.

A really important part of club motorsport is sponsorship and i wouldn't be able to race unless I had support from friends and trusted traders. In return for their support, I promote their products and services to those I think will be interested. These are all people that I trust with my life. They produce or sell parts, or offer services and work on a car that I lap circuits in, at speeds of over 100mph with 30 other cars at the same time. These people offer excellent products and services because they are passionate about what they do, and they are petrolheads just like you. www.facebook.com/techandtyres/ – Local mobile mechanic and tyre fitter based in Wiltshire these guys will be supplying and fitting our semi slicks and wet tyres for the full season. T&T cover areas such as Chippenham, Trowbridge, Melksham. www.facebook.com/harveysmotorsport/ – Our friends return for 2020, these Geometry Gurus based in Westbury will be doing all our suspension setups throughout the season and we expect to be racing alongside Josh at some point as well. www.facebook.com/MustWeldMotorsport/ – Jamie is a long-term friend of ours and has gained an excellent reputation for fabrication for all thing’s motorsport. Jamie is based near Worcester and will be build our multipoint weld in roll cage. Jamie also offers custom crash structures for drift cars amongst many other things. www.facebook.com/sprintingharejdm/ – SHJDM return for 2020 and will be supplying us with consumables for the car including discs, pads and lubricants. SHJDM are a Japanese parts supplier. The boys can offer generic modified or OEM parts as well as importing special request items from Japan. www.facebook.com/rhdperformanceuk/ – The lads from RHD will be supplying many aftermarket Honda parts for us as we head into the season to complete the build. Mainly a Honda specialist they offer great service and quick delivery on a huge range of parts. www.facebook.com/Mek-Motorsport-205978006102402/ - Based in Cheltenham MEK are a tuner and dyno for all makes and models offering custom mapping for road and race cars. They are providing dyno time and tuning for the B18 engine in the Civic EF. www.facebook.com/trackcardoorcards/ – Bristol based custom door cards company will be designing some lightweight cool door cards for us for the 2020 season and have a huge range of model types available with different designs and materials. Rose Race Cars – Based in Cheltenham Andy Rose offers start to finish project builds and every day maintenance and upgrades on modified vehicles mainly with a track or drift focus. He will be supplying all our fuel for the 2020 season. Andy focuses on mainly Nissan turbo cars, Subaru’s and BMW’s but is more than capable of working on other machinery. If you want someone trustworthy to look after your special car he’s your man. TerryBakerIndustries – Terry isn’t really a business or company but his knowledge and friendship has been second to none in 2019 so he deserves a shout out for his consistent hard work and the fact he will be putting the EF together over winter for us. Huge thanks to all our sponsors so far offering all sort from parts, services and money. Your support means we can compete for the whole of 2020 and be competitive in class 😉

Spent some more time on the car with my mate Terry over the weekend. I finished off taking all the sound proofing out of the car to save weight. Super broing but has to be done. Hammer and chisel for most of it then a wire brush on a grinder for all the little bits. The cars off for a cage in the new year so we will paint the lot when it returns. So this particular car did have an H22 2.2 engine from an import prelude in it. I'm not wanting to use an H22 for the series i race, firstly the CC limit is 2100cc but also the H22 is heavy and awkward in the EF. Using the built B18 from my Civic EK race car would have mean simply using hte OEM mounting points in the bay. However for the H22 to be fitted the previous owner had to make custom mounts. So Terry has had to cut them out in order so that he can then fabricate as cose to OEM mounts as possible for the B series to be fitted. Once hes fabricated the OEM mounts back on the chassis side we have Hasport uprated mounts for the engine itself, these will prevent any movement or possile wear on stock engine mounts when we are giving it hell on track. With the plan being to get the car as close to 750KG as possible with an engine running over 200bhp the should mean we will be competitive in class and overall on the grid. I had planned to run fibregalss wings and boot lid but after taking the steel items off the car and taking the glass out of the bootlid they are all so light anyway there will be no advantage in replacing them with GRP items. Instead i will only GRP just the bonnet for now and run poly windows from ACW Motorsport plastics.

Best upgrade for EK thats cheap are the MB6 282/262 calipers with MGZR discs. I have a set of 282 fronts if you need them.
On the EF not entirely sure on adaptors yet. Bu they fit inside a 15" rim which is a good start.

RHD Performance got the coilovers out before the weekend which is awesome. BC BR's with custom spring rates. Also started the mundane task of chipping out the sound deadening in the car, every KG counts. Final bit of welding being done then we can turn it around to off the engine up.

Mkx that is correct If you would liek to insire your car for accident damage on track we recommend Reis Motorsport Insurance. We are on their approved organisers list and they may even give you a cheeky discount. You do not have to have insurance for the trackday and i have only ever insured one of over 100 cars on track in 12 years. I tend to work on the basis that if i damage the car so much it cant be fixed, if its worht as much in bits as it is complete i don't worry about insuring it. In 12 years of doing trackdays i have never seen one car hit another on the circuit. We have sighting laps at the start of the day and very good instructors available throut out the day if you feel nervous or want help learning the track, so if your new to trackdays do not panic...we have you coovered ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)
