Some of you may remember my last project on here: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/207568/1988-mazda-b2000-nascar-truck?page=1&scrollTo=2472754
I sorta did a whole lot to it and then fell out of love for it, but hey ho.
I'm back with a new to me project which sorta ties in with the truck, in that the engine in the S13 I now own, came out of my old S14 and originally went into the truck before it was swapped out for the MX5 turbo lump. Not that anyone really cares, it's just a tenuous link.
Anyways! Here's my new project which I'm hoping to have done for the Weekender 2020 and then to hopefully keep a hold of rather than sell when it's "finished", we'll see.
Don't get too excited as it's still very much a project and certainly not a looker at the moment.
Current spec is as follows:
- 1994 Nissan 200SX S13 SE (UK) - Originally a CA18DET auto - Now an SR20DET manual - FMIC - Walbro 225 - Apexi filter - Tial BOV - Apex coilovers - Z32 brakes all around with HUGE floating discs up front - LSD - Barry-spec exhaust which is way too loud
Plans are pretty basic really. It'll be a street car predominantly but with scope to use on track and maybe a drift day here and there. Will see how we go.
It has a full interior which is actually in quite nice condition, so most of that will be staying and bodywork will stay as subtle as possible, but certainly a colour change!
So to fit:
- JDM rear bumper - Wide rear arches (as they have already been tubbed) - Wide fronts to match - 16x9 et-25 Watanabe reps - Bucket seat - Harness - Half-cage - Boost gauge - Remove BOV - Up the boost
And that's where we are!
I've only the one picture really at the mo, but it is MOT'd and road legal and is weirdly slow compared to my other SR20's... maybe I'm getting old and thought they were faster than they were when I was young, who knows!?
So yeah, keep em peeled and I'll hopefully catch you at Goodwood next year!

Fresh wheels and rubber! 205/55/16 to go on 9j. Shouldn't be too stretched, but will almost certainly need my rear overs though as wheels are 9x16 et -25. Looking forward to getting these fitted.

Nothing major to report this week, had a couple of niggles looked into. Power steering wasn't working and temp gauge wasn't working either. Power steering was lack of fluid and the gauge had come away from the rear of the cluster, both sorted quickly at the workshop. Added some spacers to the front, too them straight off again... Just been driving it really. I had a cheapo boost controller which I put on but could not get it to boost less than 15psi which is slightly more than I want on a stock engine, also blew a boost pipe so that came off again as well. I did freshen up the wiper arms though and add a sticker, so you know, progress of sorts! Deffo need either new front wheels and tyres or to refurb these ones and add bigger tyres...

So a small transformation is starting to take place. It's almost a case of "I have to make it look worse to make it look better". The plan of stock-body has kinda gone out the window as I've managed to piece together a whole Rocket Bunny kit (minus arches) for very, ver little money. The skirts are in the post, the front bumper is on and the rear bumper is awaiting collection. The skirts that are on it are just temporary until the RB ones turn up, since they were lying around at the workshop. I am in desperate need of some larger front tyres as currently it scrapes the bumper on literally everything... everything. Once the whole kit is buttoned up, it should hopefully get a whole new coat of paint! More as it happens.

Love an s13 (well owt J tbh).. only thing that lets it down was the ca18 (and rust obviously) and youve remedied that with this one!

Yeah I wouldn't have one with a CA, they sound really good but I'm definitely a fan of an SR. Nice! Don't ever see them set up for grip! I don't plan to have mine set up for anything in particular, more just an all-rounder street car really. Yes! Love it. I'll have an s13 at some stage before theres none left Thanks man! They're definitely dwindling...

Not much of an update but I got my skirts through, they're not the RB ones like I thought they were (that's what happens buying parts without viewing first!) but they're still 100% better than the ones I had on previously and I actually really like them. The car is still looking like a bit of a missile but paint in the new year will sort that. Still pretty sold on going a proper canary yellow, really cannot wait! I hate that Christmas sucks up car-part budgets this time of year...

Not much progress of late, Christmas and such getting in the way! I’ve applied for the RR Weekender Deadline Display again, hopefully will make it but will be at Goodwood either way.
Not totally sure how to add pictures from mobile but it may or may not work... if it does, you’ll see a sneak preview of the colour I’m planning on. It’s actually come out pretty good considering my limited space and equipment. The skirts are being replaced by some Rocket Bunny style ones to match the rest of the kit, I’m actually really excited to paint it!
I’ve also got some new wheels coming from Driftworks which DPD managed to make a right pigs ear out of, currently waited over a month for two wheels!
Hopefully some more progress will be made soon and you won’t bore yourself to tears with reading...

Reminds me of the united colours of Benetton cars VW did in the 1990s. Starting to look quite purposeful now. I will have to keep an eye out for it,as it looks like you’re in the same city as me.

Sadly it reminds me of those too haha! Not for long though, should hopefully throw some more colour at it soon. Are you Salisbury as well?

Non rotten s13. Check Sr20. Check Body kit. Check Mismatched wheels. Check Bright yellow paint. Check
Looks perfect to me! Carry on! (Really wish I'd snagged an s13 before rot boxes started fetching daft money)
