The e21 320/6 car I'm working on has an electric fuel pump fitted, even with my finger holding the float shut the pump continues and floods the carb (presumably why the car sometimes randomly stops?). Is there a way to regulate electric pumps some how? Is the original pump likely to still work after a few years of dry pumping? Also can anyone tell me how the vacuum below is meant to work, it looks like the vaccum is meant to keep it shut at idle and then open it at full throttle? Its a solex 4A1 carb.

Took it for an "MOT" yesterday, only failed on not having a third brake light. Carb defo needs a tune/rebuild and the drivebelt broke on the way the back so I hope the HG hasn't gone. Here it is outside the MOT station:

Having followed the wiring diagram from the Haynes manual it appears that if I connect the red and black wires from the ignition switch then the starter motor should operate, can anyone verify this correct (before I blow anything up!)?

Someone has asked me if these: Will fit an 2005 Clio 1.2 dynamique. They came with my Renault 9 but I think there originally off a 5. There 13" and 5J, I can't find an ET but they have 4.36 stamped on them?

Looks nice, same colour as mine, the ST front spoiler might have suited it better though/

BGT was my first car 5 years ago and I loved it! I think I piad about £800. Insurance was dirt cheap for an 18 y/o and id easily get 35mpg. B series engine is lovely to work on as its so basic and as long as its maintained properly its fine.

Aerodynamically modified and stripped AX GT would fit the bill quite nicely.

Wow, if its worth so little there might not be much bothering to put an MOT on it. The new clutch cost about £375 a couple of months ago lol

have you had it weighed at all? I'm intrigued to say the least to learn what they come in at! Unfortunately not, nearly had a chance at the scrap yard but the van ahead of me was taking ages and it was quicker to take all the scrap out the boot and weigh it on another machine. Will be going back there with some bits next month so hopefully can use it then. Curb weight on wiki says 640–850 kg, I imagine mines at the top end of that being a GTi because of sound deadening etc.

Big thanks to Simon on here for helping me out with some welding. Was a lovely day down at his lock up meeting him and lee and their camper vans. Door strikers went from this: to and the new exhaust looks much better then the previous one: .
