Thanks for the responses guys. So a single element wing creating 10kg of downforce would have more drag than a multi element wing creating 10kg of downforce?

Hi can anyone tell me the difference between a single element rear wing vs a multi element rear wing.
Just want some brief info on the advantages and disadvantages. What happens with drag? Is there an ideal number of elements?

My father has a share in a traditional narrowboat that used to carry cargo. Shares are for sale if your interested, much cheaper then owning a boat out right. Powered an air cooled Lister HA3 (in dire need of a rebuild), sounds lovely and is the number 1 reason why I like all thing mechanical now. ![](http://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/536339_10150877060452745_1787837879_n.jpg)

I don't quite understand why the police cant get involved here. I don't really have anything proving my ownership of any of my cars apart from the V5C.
If someone took one of my cars on a low loader and then sold it would it still be a civil matter?

1950CC Block with lotus twincam pistons, dyno print out showing 120hp Piper 270 Cam Lightened flywheel Ap clutch Big valve head, with 3 angle valve seats (allegedly gas flowed) Bronze valve guides Peco 3 piece exhaust system Distributer modified by Aldon Automotives Lowered by 1" inch all round Black vinyl Bucket seats, mountney steering wheel and loads of little chrome bits and bobs Gas struts on boot all this is under 5000 miles old Will be MOT'd for around 10 months. Paint work is the major let down of the car, its pretty bad on the bonnet and its cracked around the windscreen. Everything works fine and there is a folding bulging with history. Could someone also value some spare bits: Aluminium bonnet Spax suspension (new) ST front valance (new) Sebring rear bumper (new) ![](http://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/230775_10150199140607745_1554485_n.jpg) ![](http://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/2735_78336907744_4509467_n.jpg)

Its a BMW E21 320/6, solex 4A1 carb and it does it while warmed up and cold, it didnt do it before I rebuilt the carb. All that's changed is the float doesn't allow as much fuel in the chamber as the carb was flooding and the top of the coil plastics snapped off when I accidental leant on it ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) but the HT lead still seems to make a good connection.

What causes a carb to backfire? Its shooting out little jets after revving the car up the exhaust occasionally fires too. Ive played about with the timing, could it be something to do with float chamber not having enough fuel?

Whereabouts in the country are you? If close to Warwick I could check your fuel pressure with a gauge of mine? The cars in Malaysia, so unless your willing to take a flight out here... ;D Il relocate the fuel pump today and then go from there.

I tried the old pump today and I think its fubered. I think the main problems are the pressure of the electric fuel pump and its location.
Would moving the fuel pump nearer the tank reduce the pressure? Would putting a filter in front of the pump also reduce pressure? Are they relatively waterproof or do they need to be housed in something?

Has the car been running using this set up before? sounds like the mechanical pump hasn't worked for a few years so i'm assuming it has been alright with current set up to now? Apparently there's nothing wrong with the mechanical pump hence why I'm tempted to try it, it has had issues with randomly cutting out and flooding before on the electric pump. I'm only really going by what people have told me though so its hard to say whats true and whats not.

Normally you would mount the pump in the boot/ low down near the tank so gravity pushes the fuel towards it rather than it sucking it up and mount the regulator near the carb. Would it work intermittently if fitted high up?

The vacuum should keep it shut at idle and open it up as it goes up the revs. Does the car not have a fuel pressure regulator hooked up? it should be restricted to about 3-5psi IIRC filter king fuel regulators are pretty good. The way the spring arrangement works though keeps it shut, the only way I can see it working is at a higher throttle range the vacuum starts opening the butterfly's. The car does have a regulator, could this be at fault? Also reading further into electronic fuel pumps could the random stopping be caused by the fuel pump being mounted high up near the carb?
