123 Series is a very well built motor and the wagon I had served me well. They are quite simple to work on too - mine was manual and I fitted a new clutch, replaced the rear calipers, fitted new driveshafts, replaced the timing chain and tensioner, and also replaced the exhaust manifold which involved removing the remains of a broken stud from the head. My only real complaint was that the steering was a little vague. It's one of the few cars I've owned that I'd like to own again.

I imagine it was moved, it was over ten years ago! Don't know why the qushiniel dragged this thread back up for his first post. Never spotted that! £40 wasn't even a bad price 10 years ago!

Cars like this are really difficult to value - it's really worth what you are willing to pay and that depends on how much you want it, whether you're keeping it long term or short term, and a whole host of other considerations.
If you want a valuation because you are afraid you might lose money on it, then probably best not to buy it . . .

Strange marketing ploy - Ford launched the Classic in direct competition to their own Cortina . . . not sure what they hoped to achieve.
Will watch this with interest . . what about the A35 van and V8 Capri? . . . . . .

Claims to fame from Southampton include the Gordon Keeble (had factories at Southampton Airport and in Sholing just down the road from me). Morrisons, the Ice Cream Van manufacturer also had a factory in sholing, Southampton.
The original incarnations of the VW based NOVA Kitcar were built at Willments Shipyard in Woolston, Southampton, and I remember the shock when local residents first saw one of those!

I have a brother 6 years older than me and when he passed his test in 1970 he bought a Morris Minor and I used to help him on Sunday mornings. Mods were fairly simple - remove the hubcaps, paint the wheels with bright silver aluminium paint and add a whitewall tyre band (you used to be able to get paint for this). He then graduated to a Ford Anglia. We repaired the rot with papermache made with wood glue ( ). The car was then handpainted dark blue with a wide yellow band running up the bonnet, across the roof and down the boot. When I passed my test in 1975 I bought a 1966 Riley Kestrel (ADO16) which as far as I remember I left standard. That was followed by a couple of Ford Corsairs (extra gauges, sports steering wheel, no bumpers and some natty little racing wing mirrors - one of which lasted about a week before I caught it on a wire fence and ripped it off as I drove away.... Since then I've had more cars than I can remember, some modded, some not. Current fleet comprises: 2011 W204 Mercedes C Class Estate (not modded) 2018 Kia Sportage GT Line (not modded) 1974 Triumph Spitfire 1500 - alloy wheels, rollover bar, extra gauges, sliding poly side windows, 1963 Humber Sceptre - Work in progress: modded from 4 door to 2 door, custom chassis, RV8/LT77, roll cage, 4 link rear end with coilovers and discs, and more

being electric, the 'beauty' is only skin deep. It might as well just be a sideboard that looks like a Manta A

Yes, that's probably a better description . . . . I've always called these a finger sander No, for sanding my fingers I usually use the angle grinder for that . . . . .

Electric file - don't know how I ever managed without it . . . Is that like a small, hand-held belt sander? Yes, that's probably a better description . . . .

I read on another forum a guy moaning that his local council were trying to stop a car meet happening this weekend on the basis that they are not yet allowed (?). Would be nice to see some consistency......
