Its no way MOT exempt , different chassis/ modified mono , different engine, different gearbox, different axles , different suspension,
The floorpan alone loses the registration,
Why do all the work to build and build it illegally ?
So hope your not serious about MOT exempt and advocating the eventual builder uses the Jowett or Cortina reg.

MOT is irrelevant , the car is not a Cortina , nor is it a Jowett it will be radically altered , so its no different to Q53 POP

GJUK - sorry matey your wrong 40 years is Tax free whether MOT exempt or not . Only way to lose free tax is to be so modified you lose the original registration, then its no longer classed as 40 yrs old.
You can MOT any vehicle exempt or not , Taxis for instance are still taxed as PLG but even if younger than 3 years old(exempt) they are not exempt due to licence conditions , nowt to do with DVSA and get MOT each 12 months.
Highly modified , is totally different to MOT exemption and questions the entire vehicle legality registration wise.

As mentioned above Jim Mclean at Motorclimate should be able to help , or the other place would be Reader Air in Woking , they should be able to get a suitable coil make your own brackets then hoses can be made to suit, where in Hampshire are you ? as I know a mobile guy who could maybe extend /modify the pipes using a lokring kit

the insurance companies will react the same as usual , was the vehicle roadworthy at the time of the accident? current mot status whilst useful isn't a guarantee its roadworthy
the govt have taken the money saving option , they would have needed to amend the test to continue to test old cars, and options cost money,
when was the last car built using a king pin as part of the steering mech? to apply the same test to a 1960's austin 1300 as to a toyota auris makes no sense

15% was in original proposal but no longer in the guidance, however the engine isnt a Bedford
Engine – alternative cubic capacities of the same basic engine and alternative original equipment engines are not considered a substantial change .If the number of cylinders in an engine is different from the original, it is likely to be, but not necessarily, the case that the current engine is not alternative original equipment.
What do I need to do if I am responsible for a vehicle first registered before 1960? These vehicles are currently exempt from the requirement for a valid MOT certificate to be used on public roads. Most, but not all, will continue to be exempt. You still need to keep the vehicle in a roadworthy condition and can voluntarily have a test. We recommend continued regular maintenance and checks of the vehicle. You need to check whether the vehicle has been substantially altered within the last 30 years checking against the criteria (in the guidance notes ). If it has been substantially changed, an MOT certificate will be required for its use on public roads from 20th May 2018, even if the vehicle has previously not required an MOT.

best way is if that panel has an acceptable profile is use it as a mould , lay up fibreglass on it, finishing with fine tissue , then place panel on top and cut thru the two , so that the new piece drops in (use jigsaw with blade tilted) then glass up from inside and finish the outside again with tissue , that way you can then sand back and the roof will be seamless.
Did a Clan Crusader roof that way
