So I'm trying to get the air-con up and running in my Daimler Double SixNew original spec condensers don't exist anymore There is a company doing a kit with a slightly different matrix and hoses. I've bought one of these, alas it doesn't fit, as the current batch hasn't been made to the right dimensions. So that is going back. The condenser looks like this There are small leaks from the matrix. Does anyone know who could re-condition this ? Another option is, I have a new condenser from a six-cylinder car. This will mount in mine okay, but the pipes are in the wrong/place and maybe the fittings need modding to suit On the drivers side the pipe would need moving from the LHS to the center of the condenser. On the passenger side it looks like this I'm based in Hampshire, but I've got a big box if I need to post it somewhere. Anyone know who can help me out of this hole ? Thanks

Hi, If you can get the 6 pot condenser to fit then do so, it will be cheaper for you to do it than them to, then get an air-con company to re-hose it as needed. Use a company that does A/C work on PSV and plant, they will be used to making up hoses and such like to suit.

I can only think of two places.
J&J Radiators in Coventry as well as MotorClimate (Compressortech) in Warwick.

Thanks - that helps.
I've got a lead on a new condenser in the Netherlands, so I'm going to try and track that down too.

As mentioned above Jim Mclean at Motorclimate should be able to help , or the other place would be Reader Air in Woking , they should be able to get a suitable coil make your own brackets then hoses can be made to suit, where in Hampshire are you ? as I know a mobile guy who could maybe extend /modify the pipes using a lokring kit

A slightly left field idea for finding a new condensor might be to try Amazon I had a '93 XJ40 4.0, which was in a weird crossover point between the move to R134a and the X300 being introduced, so it had a condensor that was specific to one or two model years from memory. Only place I managed to track one down was on Amazon, was well priced too, I was half expecting it to be the wrong one but it had the pipes all in the correct locations, might be worth a go Also, won't be the cheapest option, but Jaguar themselves are doing more and more parts for the older stuff through their Classic website, they might have something? (although I don't think they had one for mine but this was about 4 years ago!) Nice double six by the way

You could try these guys. www.bagshotradiatorservices.co.uk/I used them years ago when they were actually in Bagshot, but now they are based in Odhiam in the 'shire, just a short country jaunt up the A32 from you...

I can only think of two places. J&J Radiators in Coventry as well as MotorClimate (Compressortech) in Warwick. Well. I got the car back. Originally I went in to get my sister's Saab fixed; it required a condenser and I thought at the time a dryer. Besides a pinhole leak the compressor was also shot. I thought he was trying to fleece me except two things in my mind: -My friend bought the car with the compressor having just been replaced -The garage (trader who sold him the car) who changed the compressor I've come to know later on aren't actually the best guys to buy a car from after chatting with a known garage that I've used for 15 years. I think they left the curse word in from the old compressor dying which in turn killed the secondhand replacement; that or the secondhand replacement was never long for this world. Originally the bill was going to be £270ish for the condensor, dryer, labour and fitting, then finally the refilling of the AC. Sounds expensive but ECP wanted £180 for the condenser and dryer alone at 'trade rates'; they don't stock it online. Eventually we paid £580 for the above, but with a refurbished compressor, a cleanse of the system in addition to thorough test of pretty much all testable components. It took them a week to do all of the above (as you can imagine, they had to rebuild the old compressor, not many people carry Saab/Vauxhall compressors on the shelf!). In parts alone I think the bits came to £300ish, maybe a little more. Another thing, R134a has gone up in wholesale price. I wasn't told this by CompressorTech but by another source I've known in the trade a while. If you need to regas your car, now is the time to regas it. It's gone up almost double in price; It will take time for the price to filter down to Joe Public but how long will be is an unknown question.
