Thanks for replay chaps.
I forgot to say I've got a squeaky wallet and would prefer not to pay that sort of money. Something like £12 for 4 metres would be better. There are plenty on eBay (Ford, Jaguar, Austin etc) but nothing really suitable for my BMW. The base of the trim which tucks into the rubber is approximately 14mm and the top/visible part of the trim is approximately 12mm. Just after something universal that'll do the job.
Thanks.

Hi, does anyone know of any company selling front and rear windscreen rubber chrome insets/trim for a BMW e28? Many thanks.

I'd forgotten all about these. I can remember the bad press they got when new for "looking too American" but I must admit they've aged very well. That's a nice example you have.

Great work, the car has come up a treat. Good result on the sunroof, they can be a real pain in the backside when they play up.

nice progress...peace of mind is important! the welding looks quite nice too...my e36 battery tray was gone too...did some very similar work on it... JP Thank you. Peace of mind is important especially on classics. Mechanically she's in great shape and doesn't bat an eyelid now. Once I'm up to date with project wife and kids I'll be back on the bodywork and sort out it's small tin worm infestation. Hopefully mid summer we'll see some good bodywork progress.

Great car! Just out of curiosity do you know where and when the black and white picture was taken? I'm intrigued about the 911facing backwards. could be the one I've got at work.

Quick update. Yesterday I finished welding up the holes in the nearside footwell, unfortunately I haven't got any pics of the job because my phone died. The repair section I fabricated was neatly cut in and welded including seam with spot welds. The only pic, but you get the idea. Today I took out the driver's seat to replace the seatbelt buckle due to it being very temperamental. The carpet under the seat was pretty grim with 32 years of filth. So I gave it a proper good hoover out. I also took apart the centre console and gave it and the carpet a good clean. I also replaced the passenger seat buckle so they are a matching pair. Smelling and looking a lot fresher. Once the interior was done I went about replacing these trailing arm links which were very worn and made quite a racket when driving over bumpy surfaces. Next up is to sort out the battery tray due to it crumbling away at a rate of knots.

I have the knowledge, the tools, the workshop but lack one fundamental ingredient... enthusiasm!
After working on project cars all week, come my spare time I really can't be bothered with my rolling restoration which is a poor show on my behalf I know, plus life just gets in the way. But then there are times when the car pretty much backs me into a corner and I have no choice but to sort out its issues.
Don't get me wrong she's not neglected but I know full well if I went back 10 years it would of been done and looking mint!
Anyway I'm off to get a new air freshener for it.

I once had a Maxi in denim blue metallic. Great car with loads of character and very comfortable. Just had to keep an eye on the temperature gauge when stuck in traffic for long periods of time.
