Is it not just a larger amount of matting agent added to the laqure?
If you drop b-shaw a pm on club polo I'm sure he could tell you more, but that's how he got his satin effect on his polo

If it was a cv I doubt it would increase if you stopped the other side wheel, but to rule it out repeat your test but with a helper stopping the other side so you can get close enough to hear where the noise is coming from.
My money would be on the box/diff as these boxes don't like being run low of oil. Ive killed a couple of these by running it low of oil too. Both times it started with the old popping out of 5th on lift off

Part of me says leave as is because of the amazing story and the other part says restore. It's just a shame that with a restoration you would loose so much of the original car There isn't a lot of the original car anyway tho. I'm in the restore camp myself, give the car the chance to do what it was build to do. Either way it will be interesting to see what it sells for

How easy is this to wire up? I have RS232 'capabilities' to communicate with it, I'm looking for a replacement for a Saab B204R engine in a mk3 Astra GSi. It has things like ICV, coilpacks, etc. (ps I'm good with a soldering iron ) Its pretty straight forward to wire in, some plugs on the loom may need to be changed to suit whatever sensors you use but there's a very easy to read wiring diagram in the instructions Electrics are far from my strong point but I had no issues getting my head around this

IIRC OMEX 500 doesn't do a bypass-type ICV, right? Shame, otherwise I'd see if we could have a deal on that. cheers I have no idea about that sorry

There won't be any difference in the front's length between Polo and mk2 Golf. Yes 6n2 and 6n are cross compatible. It'll depend on what quality of coilovers you're going for as to whether it matters though, the cheap e-bay ones will almost certainly be the same for both models anyway, but it wouldn't hurt to get the 6n2 ones just in case. I didn't manage to get any measurements today as work was manic/eventful, I'll have a look tomorrow if I get a chance/remember. 6n and 6n2 front coilover kits are different due to the different top mounts used on the cars meaning they use differnet diameter springs, not sure how much that would matter in this instance mind?

Was going to use this on my polo but going a different route now. I have the ecu, loom, instructions and disks. There are no sensors but these are generic type sensors anyway so could be picked up cheap from scrap yards. Also no serial lead to connect to a lap top but these are curse word cheap on ebay Couple of pics of it plugged into a pc I can get pics of whats actually included later It currently has a map on it for a vauxhall red top on itbs but this can be used as a base map for any setup Looking for £300ono Bit of official type info on it... Suitable for 4-cylinder engines. Ford 36-1 teeth flywheel pattern or Bosch (Vauxhall) fitting 60-2 teeth. Distributorless ignition and semi-sequential fuel injection. Will interface directly to Ford or Vauxhall engines with flywheel pickup already on engine (eg Ford Zetec or Vauxhall 2.0 16v). Alternatively the crank wheel can be fitted to most engines.

Some times the tank breather can block with the resulting vacuum sucking the bottom of the tank up and preventing the float from dropping once the fuel level drops past a certain point. Take the sender out and push the dent back out with a jack handle or something, should kinda pop back out once enough force is applied

Mk1 rears are massively shorter than mk2, to the point where mk2 rear coilies wound all the way down on the back of my rocco had the ride height at about +40mm the front hub mounting is about 4mm wider on the mk2 than on the mk1 and the space between the bolt holes is slightly out between the two too

fairly sure mclovin off clubpolo fitted the 1600td in one a couple of years back. pretty sure he is on here too. yeah I'm on here too was a very easy swap, as robbin says the drivers side mount needs tickling with a angle grinder but other than that it bolts straight in. The wiring is a piece of cake, run the switched live that used to feed the coil to the solenoid on top of the diesel pump and hook up a push button for the glow plugs (although wiring in the glow plug relay is easy enough). Pretty sure I modified the sirocco downpipe to work with the turbo, may of just needed shortening if memory serves I'll try and dig out some pics later if I can find any engine bay ones

Pretty sure I have a full spare lock set and keys that I'd be willing to sell if you needed them
personally I'd say it was a fair bit over priced for something that you can't see running, has no tax or test (that's just an assumption tho?) And needs body work. Although I'm far from an expert on them, just going off how I price mine

There are still some about, I bought one recently as a bit of a project that should be back on the road again soon I'll probably be looking to sell it once its on the road so I can concentrate on my polo

No so much passed up on, more my dad wouldn't let me have it. But when I was about 15 he had a Talbot samba, one day he got a flat tyre and rather than buying a new one he bought a pug 104 GTI to use as spares. He only ever used one wheel off it and after a while weighed it in. It was in pretty good nick, went well and as an added bonus was black. I saw it in a scrap yard a few weeks later upside down with half the engine missing, was a very sad site
Still to this day I've never seen another one
