Hi Guys
Just bought a bargain breadvan ;D
One of the problems is the fuel gauge doesnt work,
I`ve had a quick look at the sender in the tank and given the resisitor track a bit of a clean and still doesnt work,
There is a big dent in the bottom of the fuel tank don`t know if this would make a difference?
Anyone had this problem and been able to fix it??
Cheers Adrian

Does the temp gauge work? if not, most likely suspect is the voltage regulator on the back of the clocks, it regulates down from 12-14v battery voltage to 10v.
Check if the gauge working OK by directly connecting the wire for the sender to ground, the needle should read full.
Do you think the dent could be fouling the sender float?

I`ll have to check the temp gauge, Only picked the car up today, Would i ground it by pushing a piece of wire into the wiring plug and touching the other end to the body work? Cheers Adrian

Yeah, you'd need to push it against something unpainted like a screw or some shiny bare metal, a seatbelt bolt would probably be the closest thing to hand.

Some times the tank breather can block with the resulting vacuum sucking the bottom of the tank up and preventing the float from dropping once the fuel level drops past a certain point. Take the sender out and push the dent back out with a jack handle or something, should kinda pop back out once enough force is applied
