Chill out dude, I know actual real life people who have fitted bike carbs because they don't understand injection and prefer to deal with carbs, totally not interested in doing any wiring at all, you point out some guys use mega jolt, I pointed out SOME cars guys don't like electricity, wont touch a modern car but will happily do a total resto on something with no electrical gadgets.. It's not unusual for posts in the tech sections to appear from guys asking for help converting to electronic ignition (for instance) from guys who have fitted a complete drive train. No need to get all defensive. You didn't point out you knew some people, you made a sweeping statement implying it was MOSTLY because modders were scared, which is nonsense. Here's an unbodged polo mk2f running bike carbs seens as there is a lack of bike carb pics in this thread using the carbs, cam and megajolt he's upped power from the original 75bhp (on efi) to 115bhp (consistent on 3 rolling roads) and consistently runs low 15's and has even broken into the high 14's which is the same sort of times as you'd expect from mildly tuned G40's, which are efi and supercharged. All setting up/mapping was DIY. Some people may not like the idea, but bike carbs are a tuning mod and are capable of giving very good results over standard efi

Mostly it's because many modders are frightened of electrickery and don't want to mess around with high pressure fuel lines and ECU chips, maps and sensors. Even if they cost more people would still fit them despite Efi being a better option. What about the many people that run bike carbs with aftermarket management like mega jolt, or along side the standard ecu using only the ignition map. Are these many modders also afraid of electricity, ecu's, maps and chips? Some people prefer to run carbs, some people prefer to run injection, its personal preference at the end of the day. I don't see why people feel they need to try and some how belittle someone because they prefer to play with carbs. In this thread there's already been someone labelling all bike carb setups as a bodge and now someone trying make out people only doing it because they are scared of electricity lol

Bike carbs are cheap to buy, easy to install, easy to tune and hold their tune much better than more expensive car carbs... whats not to like?
I've seen badly fitted/setup ones that have actually decreased performance as well as giving terrible mpg, but as with anything like this they are only as good as the person fitting/setting them up.
people trying to compare bike carb setups to full blown ITB setups are totally missing the point. Bike carbs are a cheap DIY tuning solution, ITB's are not.
As for the standard injection system they are replacing being easier to modify/tune, how many people have the knowledge and tools to remap a standard efi management?
I don't see how fitting bike carbs to a car is any more of a "bodge" than fitting twin webbers to one. After all they are both carb setups designed to work on internal combustion engines

Really hope this doesn't turn out to be another thunderdome
the cars look very promising and I think tom hardy plays this sort of part superbly, although the cars were always more important to me than the characters in these films.they were the first car films I watched as a kid and are where my love of cars first started so fingers crossed miller doesn't get carried away with the plot and sticks to the car based action that worked so well in the first two films

Yeah always makes me laugh when I see something like that. Like he would seriously turn down 1k for it to weigh it in for £150

I used mk1 coilovers on my old mk2 and they were fine Fine in what way? The fronts won't fit without modification due to the bolt spacing being wrong, and mk1 rears are about 4" shorter than a mk2 due to the rear suspension turret being totally different heights o both cars

That is assuming its the same set up as the R11? There are plenty of threads and guides on the subject on the net, I found it easier searching for how too's for renault 5's tho as there was a lot more info on lowering them but they use the same kind of setup

If there's no problem then why are you saying I ripped you off? For me to have ripped you off I'd of had to of sold you the wheels knowing there was a problem with them, like I said they drove fine on my car so why would I think anything was amiss? If they were that buckeled but had been balanced up so they drove right there would be masses of weights on them. It was dark when you collected but I pulled them into the shed light so you could have a good look over them, does that sound like the actions of someone who is trying to hide something?
this may be a silly question but did you rotate the tyre?

Ripped you off? I'm not saying they were perfectly straight, they were £80 wheels with obvious heavy curb damage (all shown and described in the add). Its safe to assume that they will need some balancing but what wheels don't? What I'm disputing is that they were so buckled they couldn't be balanced up because they obviously were balanced up because they ran fine on my car. As I said in the text I never had any reason to balance them because I only used them for the tyres, once warn they were taken off and put in the garage. The add from the person I bought them off is still on here showing them in the same condition I sold them to you (minus some tread). If I had any reason to believe they were badly buckled I've of just weighed them in rather than sell them on, but as they ran fine why would I think they were buckled? I've sold shed loads of stuff over the years on various forums and never had any issues what so ever and I've always been as honest as possible, plenty of people on here will be able to vouch for that and many more on other forums. You messaged me saying you would pay the £80 asking price and collect asap, and then as soon as I tell the others wanting to come and buy them that they were sold you start trying to get money off because of how far away you were. Then once you got here you tried to get a tenner knocked off (using your bestest "oooh, thats going to be a problem" tyre kicker routine) because I pointed that a 99p center cap was missing (also shown in pics in the add)... this was just after you told me you weren't interested in cosmetics cause you were just gonna chuck some tyers on them and drift the off them. All this and the fact you were trying to tell me that wheels that had not long come off my car and drove fine were so buckled they couldn't be balanced and were only any good for scrap so you wanted a refund, just led me to the assumption it was just another way for you to get money off. That may seem far fetched but I've been in this game a long time and seen people play such tricks. chucking stuff at a car, whats wrong with knocking on a door and saying you have a problem? also I don't see how its my loss, when I sell the car I'll chuck the kit back on and ask a little more for it when I sell the car, at least that way I won't have a deal with jokers offering me £30 for it and dealing with people that claim I ripped them off badly but are still willing to buy stuff off me again. It just doesn't add up, if someone had ripped me off I sure as yell wouldn't be buying more stuff off them

Ah yes, the wheels that you agreed to pay full asking price for and then proceeded to try and get money knocked off at every opportunity, and then text me a few weeks later asking for a refund because they were so buckled they couldn't be balanced up and were only good for scrap, even tho they had driven fine on my car with one of them only coming off the night you picked them up.
Any way after getting silly offers by phone and no one with both bumpers willing to do a deal I'm just gonna chuck these in the garage and refit when I sell the car. So no longer for sale

No because then I'd have to spend money on buying more bumpers. This is ideal for someone who has a sapphire and wants a cheap cossie kit, they get a cheap kit and I don't have to mess about finding and buying more bumpers.
£100 is about the going rate for a 4x4 bonnet

Still got this knocking about, £100 and some standard sapphire bumpers takes the whole kit minus the rear spoiler
would need painting and tidying up but its a cheap cossie kit
