Fisher Fury uses a modified Escort MK2 Strut with Land Rover Drag link - which may be a QR201RHT - If its the sort of thing you are looking for. I know the tapers are the same as I converted an old Dutton from MK2 struts to Capri struts to lower the car via the Capri stub being an inch further up the strut Having a rummage thru some of those builds, Austin Maxi came up as a possible ball joint? I will follow that up tomorrow with a phone call.

Mk2 sons capri has coil overs and adjustable tca’s, what are you going to fit at the crossmember end? Can get some pics if its any help? I'm going to fit A arms and not use TCAs, I just need to find a ball joint I can use, the struts I have a capri based but chopped down to about half the length,

OK, Have a dilemma and making plans for the future (not Nigel) thinking forward about the slow evolution of my van, and the very awkward front suspension, which has its geometry compromised once you try and lower it to where I want it, with a small amount of fabrication and using the original suspension pickup points, I may be able to use a shortened (very) capri strut, what I need to know are there any bottom ball joints that will fit in the strut taper and be able to bolt on to something, I know Austin Ambassador ones fit but are push in to a hole in the TCA, I want bolt on, so I can faff about with geometry and get what I want. any suggestions?

Superb work, as always. John Thanks John, cant say I ll be sorry to see it fully sprayed, way out of my comfort zone, nearly 40 years as a maintenance fitter doing break downs were every days different I think gives you a different mind set, cheers H 44 years as a maintenance fitter, and I have RETIRED, Miss it badly, but you are right, the mind does think somewhat abstractly trying to get things back and running, its is a skill, and a very useful ability.

I have now decided I need a new compressor, I have 2 already, one being a good size v twin, which seems to pump as much oil as air, its truly well worn out, the other being a small silent compressor that now needs a new motor.. I don't intend doing paint, apart from blowing in,..... so...... I need 10cfm plus, mainly for tools, I don't want a pile of unreliable junk, something that will outlast me

don't forget, you cannot kill the engine and disconnect the alternator at the same time, at the same time as the alternator must have a load to use before it stops, otherwise you can fry the rectifier

Engine wise, if your choice of engine dosent come about, My choice would be a BMW3.0d, straight 6, turbo, not hard to get 600ft,lbs and I would guess it would be lighter than a F10 BMW

6 x 1" pipes made of copper ? I seem to remember, Copper should not be used in exhausts, it makes some sort of toxic gas, what toxic gas, I can't remember,

I’ve got about 18 tons of fertiliser that needs moving ? So have you got all the bits for the engine now in an expensive pile in the corner ? I’ve lost the plot slightly. James Yeah that won't go in the back of the car, could borrow a couple of bits of kit from the farm but imagine it wouldn't be the most efficient way to go about things 😂 You think you've lost the plot, given this year so far I'm starting to question of there ever was one... Anyway all bits for the engine are together in a very expensive plastic storage container in the shed, they were expelled from the house due to viewings etc. ☹ Once I've finished stripping the celica and moved the shell I'm hoping to get the engine on the stand and start to build things up, although I need small bits like cooling pipes, cable retainers and dipstick tube etc. Have given up on A/C for time being as not got much response from the folk who were looking into a solution for me and how to run it with the front pulley system I've gone for. Something to come back to perhaps... although that does now mean there is room for a small snail in the engine bay... 🤔 Sounds like an Ideal time see if a nice Rover V8 fits into a celica......
