Now that the mk2 Escort is having it's engine bolted together, and my final decision has been made, this is to be my first attempt with an Austin, obviously it will have a few mild mods carried out, but i already have a mildly tuned 1600 Austin engine lined up, this was the advert.......
This is a rolling shell only with doors, a boot lid & bonnet but no wings, it has the loom & dash still fitted but no interior. It comes with an Identity but not a current V5. I have a previous V5 and old MOT certificates. I have owned the car for 12 years and in that time it has been dry stored. I started repairing the front inner wing but never got any further. As you can see in the pictures its pretty standard A40 rust, inner wings and rear floors are good.

Looks a good base. These are rising in value. Makes you wonder what best thing to do is if you might move it on in the future. If it was mine I might mint it and keep it reasonably original with the addition of disc brakes and inertia seatbelts. But if you fancy making it a bit of a rod then good on you and I will look forward to your updates.

Mrs Crockpot hates these with a passion, hence I will never have one  I think they are great little cars (aside from their hobby of rusting for pleasure). They can make great sleepers or as said the clubman racer look. What will you do for front wings, they are all but extinct. |

I have a glass one that was delivered a week ago, and hopefully, some kind soul on here is going to help me with the other one, Just dropped the wheels off yesterday for powdercoating (Silver) and hoping to pick the car up part way thru this month, the engine is from a bigger model and being a 1600 should pull well, still deciding on a final colour, i like grey and maroon, my girlfriend likes sickly washed out green.......? Guess i need to look for another girlfriend.....? (oh no! never!!!) anyway, i must press on, waiting for rear lights to arrive and a n.o.s rear boot lock! As usual, thanks guy's (and gals). |

When I was deciding on the colour for <<<<< my girlfriend at the time said I should paint it Fuchsia.... The next one said paint it what ever colour you want and 34 years later continues with the same mind set.... Really like this build, Just get it done, don't get it right and once on the road and in use fix the bits that need fixing. I think we all agree you don't need another "Escort"... P. |
