It might be worth looking for a turbo carb from an MG Metro or a Renault 5, obviously they're designed for the job.
Also, keep an eye out for a second hand megajolt kit. Like megasquirt, but limited to spark timing only, so cheaper. There may be similar mappable ignition systems I'm not aware of too.

I bought a silverline one for about the same price, which I haven't broken yet. Admittedly I've never got that rough with it, but it seems good quality.
What are you using yours for? I guess more than pulling a few dents in car panels?
If nothing else you could get a bit of threaded bar and use the weight from your old slide hammer.

Hmmm... I even double checked myself with Wikipedia on that point I suppose if someone has gone to the trouble of fitting a manual box, they may have fitted a 2wd one. In which case pretty much all of what I previously said is useless. I'm interested to know more though.

I quite fancy a 3litre manual rwd to play with I think you should look elsewhere... afaik, they were all auto and 4x4. As for value? Not much, they're rare and difficult to find parts for. Not more than 1500 for a good one.

No probs If you right click the image (in Firefox at least...) there is an option to copy image address. Paste the address between two img tags. Look out for https addresses though (like on facebook), just remove the 's' from https and you're away!

I picked up a used Clarke mig for 120, it's great!
But as mentioned, budget 30 quid for an automatic mask. My eBay special works fine.

Bump for anyone who missed it. I watched it last night, thought it was fantastic. Very well produced with lots of video and pictures of the cars.

That V8 should have been a standard option! Also, side exit exhausts are the coolest mod you can make to a car. Some more 'period' wheels and you're onto a right winner with that

They seem like bargains atm, how long before the drift scene start taxing them? I'm interested in how you get on - I keep watching them on Ebay without the nerve to bid.

The 1.8 and 2.0 seem to be similar in price. The 1.6 seems to be the most valuable second hand, despite the huge number of them in cars, they die and need replacing more often.
£170 sounds a bargain for a car with 6 months test. A potential buyer could scrap it and have 6 months motoring for the price a short tax disc.

What an awesome car!
Took me until near the last photo to work out what you were doing with the exhaust. A true 'built, not bought' car.

Love the car, it looks fantastic!
On the brakes though... Could you use something similar rather than a proper supra part? Obviously it'd need a bit of fettling, but it could save a bit of cash.

I don't think talking on the phone is the issue, it's the not looking at the road while you are pressing buttons.
No matter how much of a smarty pants super amazing driver you are, if you aren't looking where you are going, it is only luck that is preventing an accident.

Looking at the turbos, it may be worth the wait! (...of the lag) I've a couple of questions on this picture though, is that a real distributor or some electronics that look like one? And have they fabbed injector holes into a carb manifold? //Also, just found that if you remove the 's' from 'https' of facebook photo locations, you can post them.

You can still get cellulose paint mixed over the counter. Obviously a lot nicer than 2K, but you're still going to need a mask if you're spraying it.
