Although in this case modern is relative as the vehicle sin question are '04 and '07.
Discovery - wife has been saying something not right for weeks which I've ignored putting it down to difference between a new started and the old one. Last weekend there was a failure to proceed, after much churning etc got it started, a few more instances and it's pretty obvious that air is getting into the fuel supply. Off to garage for new fuel filter and air bleed valve, fuel pressure is OK. OK for a day then another failure to proceed, helpfully while I'm a coupe of hundred miles away, so now in garage for new injector seals, ~£300 :-(
Alfa - wife using Alfa while Disco' in garage, yesterday non-starter while she was a stables. Jump start and get it home, flat, really flat batter, charge up over night seems OK this morning but tailgate won't unlock (it only has an electronic lock). It has done this before and I just put it down to Italian car quirkiness (otehrwise known as character).
Meanwhile MX5 just keeps working, I think my next daily might be a more modern Mazda!

Went shopping... bits arrived quicker than expected... I now appear to be in trouble with the wife again 🙈😂 That's easy just buy her a horse, or two, to go with the horsebox. I've we've just bought yet another Ifor Williams horse box, not as posh as yours, to go with the horse she we recently acquired. Wouldn't tow anything else. Over the years I've used horse boxes to transport rubbish, furniture, Lego (lots of)...
I have been having thought on how I could use it as a car transporter, it's wide enough for the MX5 but not long enough. Do you think she'd notice if I welded in some extensions.

Have I missed something but why take the rails off? I thought they looked quite purposeful and would be useful although you have lash down points inside as well don't you? To me having odd plates of any size on the car will look well odd.

Stop it! Get in car, start engine, press right hand pedal and let large V8 and autobox do the thinking for you. Simple.  BTW, love the Camino! Ahh but this is @quatermass ' car even the gearbox has started to overthink... |

When asked if the car was MOT'ed and insured my wife kindly informed the policeman that he could look it up on his system... I wouldn't dare to give an answer like that.

The wife is using the MX5 at the moment, Disco is playing up [again], and got stopped by the Police! They obviously thought it was a 'youth' out in thier unroadworthy, untaxed and uninsured car, got a bit of surprise when they found out it was being driven by a granny (my wife's words and we're not actually grandparents yet). Even got her to show him that the lights and wipers worked.
They should be out there catching actual criminals (like the driver on his mobile that drove past whilst she was stopped).

Just to add, despite doing a track day last week and spending all day pretty much on the limiter my 174,000km plus MX5 quite happily drove up the M5 at ~70 and home again without a problem. Meanwhile the wife's Discovery (admittedly at 140K miles) was sitting partially broken on the drive, fixed no air-bleed valve.
What was great was seeing the variety of cars in the queue to get in, American low-riders, lotus 7 type kit car, a squadron of beach buggies, VW Golf's...

[ You were quite right... there was quite literally a couple of them. What were you shooting on, a box brownie? COME ON MAN, SHOW THE REST. As I'm sure luckyseven would confirm it's not just a case of dumping the camera card into RR, the images need to be sorted, quality checked (after the first cull I'm left with 101 images), processed, converted to jpg and I haven't even bothered with erudite comments ala L7... |
