Ummm.... wow I’m not a ‘scooper’ so this is all new to me, I thought scoops just lured ladies, but I now find out that their blouses fall off too!! Not sure if Lucy will let us finish the scoop now I’m sure @quatermass can bring us up to speed on these things on Sunday. I’ll tell Lucy to stay away though until he’s cleared up the full extent of the potency Also if you're not careful your car gives birth as well and you'd end up with a mini Fugitive.

We only had 7 cars on the stand, we don’t have enough bonnet scoops currently to lure the ladies anyway.... Tom and me are desperately trying to fashion something from a bean tin and a teabag, but frankly we are struggling.... and it looks silly as the engine is clearly visible at the back How about something like this, on the beetle at the back Obviously not very effective as the model still has 'some' clothes on.

It's a trivial thing but re the number plate lights, could you make the spacers angled to stop white light showing?
Great car and the blue really suits it.

Back when I had a company e36 328i touring I borrowed a Z3 2.8 roadster, I found that it was boomey (noise with roof down, not road or wind noise) and certainly didn't handle as well as the 328. I was quite disappointed in it. The electric roof impressed my daughter when I picked her up from primary school though. It's a pity they didn't do the coupe in 2.8 form like in Germany.
Having said that a 2.8 would make a good weekend/track car.

Footman James, I've got a limited mileage (1,000) policy with them. The policy is actually with Aegeas.

To start off, a model I bought quite early on in my collecting. No real reason why except I really like Cobra's (doesn't everybody?). It's a Box model and probably didn't cost that much, I think the detailing is pretty good particularly given how old it is. I particularly like the wheels and the license plate. These days the dash would probably be printed and the chrome is a bit OTT. I have a few Box models in my collection as they were good value, and there wasn't much to choose from back then. Another is the Ferrari 250GTO, a nice counterpoint to the Cobra.
This on is let down by the wheels, which on a more recent model would be much better, and the chrome is a bit too bright. But the overall shape etc is very good, complete with Italian number plate. I suppose I could swap the wheels out for some after-market wire wheels.
Using a DSLR with two flash guns still need to work on placement.

For my birthday, my stepdaughter got me the big campervan set. Brilliant! Except...it's a Chinese knock-off, and has some pieces missing. Does anyone know what the compatibility is like with these? They *look* like Lego, but can't be sure, they could be just different enough that genuine pieces won't fit. Reputedly the compatibility is very good, so I'd just add the missing bits with 'real' Lego.

If it’s a series II discovery surely it falls in as a late registered example if a 1998 model? If it’s a series III that was launched in 2004 then it would be too new It's a D2 facelift so really categorises as a 2003, although it can trace it's roots back to the early Range Rover same chassis.

Unfortunately take me off the list (unless you want a '07 Alfa on the stand), 'a' and 'b' just aijn't happening :-( Umm I think I definitely need an imaginary car place, Alfa is now being uncooperative so could be an '04 Discovery useful if anybody gets stuck though! and it's got a RR sticker in the back window (much to my wife's disgust, it's her car).

As others have I thought I'd start a thread about my collection of 1:43 die-cast models. As a boy I mainly played with Corgi (not Dinky) cars and Lego, my collection of Corgi's ended with what I would think is the golden era of Corgi, Golden Jacks. I only had 1 whizz-wheels which admittedly is one of my favourites, the Graham Hill Cortina MKIII (but that's a separate thread) Anyway back to die-casts, after resurrecting some Corgi cars for display I started to buy a few die-casts about 30 years ago, when they were relatively cheap. I was buying at the budget end, Brumm, Box, Quartzo... but good models. Initially it was a case of buying what I liked but over the years a few themes have emerged; F1 World Champions and Le Mans Winners for the decades of my birth, '59-'09 (got all 12, interesting to see the evolution of designs) F1 World Champions (35/59) Le Mans winners (17/60) Cars that I've owned (or as close a model as I can get) Graham Hill (F1 champions cars, Le Mans winner, Indy 500 winner, some others) Tony Pond (Metro, Sunbeam, TR7) Derek Bell (Le Mans winners 2 out of 5 so far) There are also small sub collections of Aston Martin's, 70s/80s Rally cars, Triumphs... What I want to try and do is showcase some models, or groups of models, with an explanation of why I bought that model. To start with my most recent buy, a Brumm twin set of Graham Hill's 1962 BRM stack-pipe P57 chassis and car (£20 eBay buy). I've already got the separate Brumm models of the P57 but couldn't resist this set with the separate chassis. Graham Hill is a particular 'hero' of mine (along with Tony Pond and Derek Bell) very under rated and under the shadow of Jim Clark and Jackie Stewart but 2 F1 Championships, a Le Mans win and an Indy 500 win can't be too bad not to mention the Monaco wins. Yet it never seems to get mentioned when every body talks about Alonso going for the golden CROWN. They also do a John Surtees Ferrari 158 as a twin set.
This is a phone picture, future images will be taken with a proper camera, I'm going to build some dioramas/backgrounds for the cars. I'm looking for some 1:43 (O gauge) figures as well that are realistic and not too expensive ready painted.

Like the Sunbeam, I've got a Tony Pond rally version (goes with the TR7 V8 and Metro 6R4).

What about a 3.0L Jag V6 as used in the Rocketeer MX5 kit, you could get some of their carbon fibre inlets? Personally I'd be thinking along the lines of a Dolomite Sprint engine but as they are a bit old a modern BMW 16v 4-pot.

I did have my mesh insert fitted but it didn't seem to make much difference due to the extreme amounts of virile potency involved. I think you need to take a leaf out of Aston Martin's book and blank it off to keep all that virile potency contained in the engine bay. not that I'm comparing your Scimitar to an Aston Martin V8 Vantage.

I have a question, when you accidentally impregnated the lollipop lady did you have the mesh insert fitted to your hood scoop? I'm sure with a fine enough mesh you could prevent such occurrences and remove it for when you are in suitably infertile (e.g. surrounded by car nerds) areas. Although I fear for blackpopracing there may be no solution unless his manly gigantic scoop is compensated for by his BGW (duck)
