This is my current project, a tribute to Ed Roth's Road Agent.
1971 Beetle, idea is to build under the 'rebody' rules. Top from a company in North London, £275, and is 1,100mm dia x 450mm high.
Started the stripdown and usual rust repair/rebuild in March 2018, mixed the first plaster/vermiculite in May 2018.
3 Layers of 350gsm.
Nicknamed it Agent Thor (anagram of Roth)

Cheers for all the good comments, I know it's to everybody's taste, but we are all free to build what WE like!
Plan is to get it to Wheelsday on 19th April. Although will not have the paint done by then, so will probably aim for a VW Dub show in Bristol on 16th June.

Love it! Been watching it progress over on Rods n Sods - I keep catching myself grinning at the pictures! What wheels are you going for? I can picture a chrome Empi 5-spoke with bullet centres.

Pics are probably a couple of months old.
Had an issue with some chrome (front torsion arms, backing plates & spindles) which has pushed me back a little.
Glad it makes you grin, I'm building it for a laugh, not meant to be a 'serious' car!
I have some vintage Rover P5 hubcaps, with bullet centres for the rear and trying to find somebody to narrow the front 'standard' Beetle wheels down to 3". But no luck at the moment. So might look at some 16" Space Savers.

Banded and smoothed steelies is where it's at. Widened to 10" at the rear, narrowed to 3" at the front and smoothed out... Got stock wheels... Chopchopchop, bashbashbash... That'll do. What about colour? Red ones go faster, right? Needs rubber... And hub caps... There we go, that'll do.
