Nice car!
Once i get some more space ill be adding a Kitten Estate to the mix, id ideally want a van but super rare! I'm not a fan of the saloons rear end I almost bought one a while back but the storage space has been taken by the pickup now
My plans for the kitten are a little different to yours. Motorbike engines have been done lots of times. Usually never fully finished! Looking forward to seeing how you get on with it!

Honestly go for a LIPO battery, youll need a new charger as well. But these are pretty cheap these days. The problem with getting a lipo is you shouldnt let the cells go lower than 3v per cell. 4.2V is fully charged.
If your ECU doesnt have a cut off, youll need some way of telling the battery is low. You can get a cheap battery voltage reader that pugs into the balance pins on the battery and will beep when it gets to the minimum battery, telling you to stop.
LIPO is SOOO much better than nicad /nimh batterys. You'll get so much longer out of the battery and put it away charged and pull it out years later, its still going to work.
I wouldnt worry about explosions. But there are lipo sealed battery pouches you can buy recommended to be used when charging. As long as you don't go above 4.2V or below 3.0v your good.

MOT Exemption becomes immediate on cars older than 40 years old from April 1st each year. You do not need to apply for this. You still require the car to be road worthy condition.
Tax Exemption becomes valid to apply for on cars older than 40 years from April 1st each year. You need to apply and send the V5 back to get historic car written on v5 Post office will still issue you a receipt for 0.00 for taxing a car for 12 months. You still need to apply for Tax, even tho its free. If you don't you will fined as per all other vehicles.

Hi-jacking the thread a little bit, its relevant... But i know there are sites that convert different axle gearings to road speed. And sites that convert different tyre size to road speed.
Anyone know of somewhere that can do both at the same time?
Say i changed my axle ratio and my tyre size from stock. I want to know how big the % difference is out, and adjust the tyre/wheel size to get back so my speedo is back to more accurate.

Don't they charge you a fee for bidding using a device that isnt on their site in their 'auction room'?
Those fees sound fine, but ive heard storys of being charged multiples times the cars worth in fees. Maybe that was incorrect information.

Arnt the hidden fees for copart pretty silly? Like you buy a car for £500 but end up paying about £1,300 all in with fees etc.
Because they charge you for bidding, charge you for being a member, charge you for payment, charge you depending on how much the bidding goes up to.
Anyone have any positive experience with them?

I also found this lurking behind the battery. I'm guessing there was something wrong with the oil gauge / sensor and the pervious owner hid it behind here. Does this feed oil up to the gauge? if so anything i should be aware of when i reconnect it seen as it must have an unknown fault? Thats the oil feed to the oil Pressure gauge. Usually it will have oil feeding into it... If theres not oil all over the battery from that. I'd suggest the pipe is blocked/bypassed. Car is looking good, deffo getting there! Jake

Get a ohm test on the fuel sender, might not be your dash that is screwed. More likely the sender. Fuel sender details as much as anyone would ever need to know www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/fuel-sender-fuel-gauge-operation.21658/But if the temp guage does nothing also its maybe the regulator. How to replace the voltage regulator, pretty simple. www.capripower.co.uk/forum/index.php?threads/voltage-regulator-replacement-by-bristol-red.321/Oil is just an oil feed directly no electronics. Edit: Just a quick update as it popped into my head. Battery indicator is usually there in the middle as its an ammeter, will drop or rise by a couple mm. Usually during initial startup cranking until the alternator kicks in. With the temperature sender, my pinto used to have no thermostat in it. And i thought my guage was broken. Would never move. Until i fitted a thermostat and it actually started getting up to temp and warm. Even during summer and daily driving it in traffic, It never moved. Prob need a new sensor, but it tells me when its warm now. So I'm happy.

I bought a cheap one last year for about £35 and i used it often as i have a battery drain and often forget to flip the battery disconnect ...
It worked really well and started the car up a treat everytime. Would start the car 10+ times on a single charge no problem. I accidently connected it up the wrong way round to the car in my frustration one dark morning before a show and now it won't charge. So its a big paper weight right now.
Need to get a new one, and I'm going to make sure i get polarity protection ...

So 1 less e46 on the roads now. On the 22nd December i got hit by a lorry who decided i was where he wanted to be. He hit my driver side rear door Spinning me into the central res and pinning me there. Basically a well executed accidental pit manoeuvre. No injury's me and my date, yes i had just picked up a lady for a second date. Were all A ok, sadly its goodbye for the E46 Before After You can see the wheel is still on full opposite lock, me trying to control the spin out or re-correct. It snapped the steering once it hit the barrier after the lorry hit me again.
