Yeah I remember seeing a lefty fork being ridden and being blown away by it. Even now on the rare occasions I see one, it still has the same effect. That Klein frame is pretty bonkers, they did some awesome bikes though. Here's an interesting read on the Mantra for anyone interested m.pinkbike.com/news/1996-klein-mantra-pro-now-that-was-a-bike.html

Get a cheap iphone with a cracked screen or cosmetically bad but working one for cheaps on eBay. Get a pay as you go sim and put a few quid on there, set up 'find my iphone' on it, install it somewhere hidden and linked up to a car charger.
The car goes missing you can trace the iPhone which ought to still be with the car.
Cheap and fairly reliable car tracker Blue Peter style. Even when the battery goes on the car you'll still have a few days on the phone.

I love old school bikes. I have a Klein Mantra which is hella 90s. But I can't figure out for the life of me how to get a photo on here from my phone.
It's a cool bike anyway. Total death trap of an early downhill bike

If it's ok to ask, how much would something like that set you back? Around here all industrial stuff is £600k upwards. Even a drive way can cost £100k down here so I am quite curious as I want to make stuff happen. I reluctantly rent as there literally is no option without a million quid in the bank

While trying to find my immobiliser unit I found a gold and diamond ring under the driverside carpet. Had hallmarks on it, went to the jewellers to get their opinion... fake diamond, cheap gold. Weighed in at £16 worth. Found £17 in change under the passenger side carpet Cheap gold? yeah was 8 carat and weighed barely anything, when you looked at it closely it wasn't anything pertaining to be quality. Elizabeth Duke kind of junk

It's defiantly worth trying. My friend sold his 205 Gti and instantly regretted it. I just happened to see it about a year later miles from where it was sold parked under a tree.
Stuck a note on it for him, the bloke called and he bought it back.
Happy days

I reckon good early mx5 will be big money in ten years. and these:
honda Crx mk2 vtec 106 gti saxo vts honda integra type r rs turbo (if not already) escort cosworths I recon will go the same way as the integralle and be £60k upwards jag xk8/xkr corrado vr6 storm or g60 subaru impreza rb5 and p1 mitsubishi evo VI astra and nova gsi/gte R5 turbo ducati 748, 996 and 998
Imo, all those could be had now for a lot less than they will be in several years time.
get a standard one in good condition and don't over pay for it, I don't think you can go wrong personally.
even if they don't go up you can enjoy using them.

having someone show you what to do and practice make all the difference.
theres quite a lot to balance, so to speak. torch angle, amps, distance from the work piece, thickness of the metal, finishing and spacing of the bits you're welding together, etc.
it can be perfect when everything is right but super frustrating when not.
welding tips and tricks on youtube is a goldmine for info
also buy the best quality welder you can afford, the cheap gear is a false economy

I would look at it another way if it's turning out not to be a suitable project.
If the numbers people are throwing back to you here and elsewhere around restoring are high and the car itself is really low... Figure out the cost of getting it on your drive and a bare minimum of it's worth to someone else to restore and if that looks like a happier margin, sell it to someone who would love such a project. If people are prepared to drop thousands on spares the car alone must be worth a hefty chunk.
It will be a nice experience potentially and give you a few quid for your own project.
Like bootfairing but with old porsches living in the states.
Sounds exciting almost!

Hondas are broken a lot but get good money. Largely as a lot of parts are interchangeable between various models.
Probably always room for more breakers since there's a big scene out there

I had a detachable steering wheel once.
It was best for giving people a lift and when they jump in, I would go "what the hell, someone's nicked the steering wheel".
If you like a wind up, that's good choice.
Might be a deterrent, mine never got stolen at least.
Except for the steering wheel...

What's the actual problem you have? My dad is very techy with xk8/r but more on the mechanical side.

I would echo the tool box thing as in I've never had one or needed one. Also you need tools to put in the thing first of all.
Adjustable spanner would be one thing worth having. I have a plethora of odd tools but that is one hella useful basic tool that covers a lot of bases.
