My SLK I bought in June had non-working washers and a small bullseye to the windscreen right in front of the driver, but no mention of them in the MOT. As the testing station was right next to the garage and was done just before lockdown - the mileage read the same, I find it highly unlikely that these were not there when the test was done. I replaced the washer pump (cost £11!!) and will sort the windscreen on an "as and when" basis. I don't think it was suspicious - more a "get these done before selling it" as it was the dealer next door. Then lockdown messed it all up before I bought it in June. I reckon there's a lot of "next-door agreements" that go on within the Motor Trade, which are then mysteriously not fixed. My grandad bought an Astra, same situation as yours, that had 12 months MOT. Gear change was a bit strange, needed lining up properly so took it to the garage he uses the same week, the comprehensive fail list it had failed on, then passed the next day with no mileage change, had not been done, as in not a single piece of it. We only found this out as it was before the time before we knew we could check online, and he had no fail sheet so as far as he was concerned, it had a clean bill of health. Got a lot of his money back (think he ended up paying around 200 for a 900 car), mot station was closed within the month, and we kept the car and I did the work on it.

My grandad is in need of a new car, misses his Astra, wants another. Due to lockdown we can't go too far, 1.4/1.6, manual or auto, if it starts and goes with some ticket hell be interested. Minters need not apply, for what it will be used for hes quite happy with bumps and dings.
Thanks

Mine was a cracking car to be fair, I just liked the Ax i bought to use while the Tipo had a clutch more so I sold it. Guy I sold it to gave it me back a year or so later after using it as a builders van, interior was shagged, gearbox was crunchy and the pristine bodywork was a mess. I kept it for 6 months trying to find parts, then weighed it in when I didn't find a single breaker or one in the scrappy. Shame really it was a really good car.

I had a 94 1.4 as a first car in 2007, and they were thin on the ground then, 16v more so. Not seen a Tipo in the wild for a good 5 years now.

Took this out for the first time in a while today, little 1.4 doesn't like being 5 up with a boot full of buggy and shopping but still went ok, went to Llanrwst for a walk (on the limit of our lockdown area) and went conker picking, then went shopping and took it for a wash. Turns out the full tube of silicon i used to seal the sunroof shut has done the job, and for the first time in 11 years I didn't get wet or have to sit on a towel

I did a Commando for the daughter, fully restored it, she rode it once, said it didn't feel nice to ride, and she inherited me spare mk3.

I've never got on with full suspension bikes, even high end ones. My stepdaughter had one when me and the wife got together and on a ride she was noticeably more tired than the rest of us, because she was bucking and trying to ride through it. Sacked it off and got her a Giant hard tail from our favourite source, problem solved

She had them on her Chopper as I had them on mine, they are fundamentally useless, but she likes her little accessories, so far they've stayed safe as the Paul Frank has a box girder for a stand, instead of the thin twig my mk3 has, so slightest wind, it falls over and my mirrors cop for it she loves it, the coaster brake is a real novelty for her, because now she can do skids, which I've banned for now until I can find some more 24" whitewalls as spares

Actually had a bit of tinker time today, all of about 20 minutes. So busy in work now that on my one day off I cba. Anyway, last time I went to ride the red mk3, it fell off its stand and the brake lever shattered, so bought a pair of second hand mk3 ones, and got them fitted And then just a bit of oiling and tyre inflation on the childs bike, tidied the tools away and went for a walk

It is what it is, trouble is I have nowhere to store it undercover, I cant dismantle it whwre it is, I cant weld, I cant find anyone to do a proper job rather than a patch, so it looks like the end won't be too far away for it. I know it needs shocks, engine swapping out, essentially I want to tear it down and start again.

Not looked at this for a while, decided to stick the GSi wheels back on, for a change if nothing else as the steering is pretty heavy on the 16s anyway. Found a nice surprise in the drivers wheel arch waiting for me... So need to find someone to weld that up, noone my way will do it properly, only an MOT type patch that will need doing again in 12 months. Not perturbed, I decided to change the front bumper over, as I had a slight accident involving having to drop off a kerb backwards ripping it off. This is a spare, no foglights and at 100 a set I wont be buying any either, and a rush paint job but better than a saggy cable tied on bumper. Also picked up a passenger today in a charity shop, wanted one for a while so he's now chief of vehicle security and navigator.

I used to really like it, and any chance I got id be flying around the a5 or a470 around Betws y Coed, or Bangor as they're 20 mins away. Then I got a job delivering parcels and that whole section of Snowdonia became my route, and when you spend all day driving you don't tend to feel like doing it after work, maybe the odd weekend we'll go for a run but nowhere near as often as I used to.

I'm really happy with it, just not the seat which someone has changed and then homemade the clamp underneath, so it can't be adjusted. Want a big fat soft thing now
