Busy being busy again. Selling a couple of my cars and not enjoying the process. people!
Got the '69 Country Squire up and in use again, almost got the '71 Galaxie back up and going again, at least I know what the issue is.
Have some electrical stuff we are finishing off on the Hawk and I am getting some assistance in on the Majestic which has a failure to proceed which is either the starter VERY jammed up or the engine seized. Time will tell.

Working on sorting out my late mother's RAV4. Either for sale or handover to my youngun. Insurance looks like the problematic issue there. The car is a cracker though, 2005 model with 32,000 miles on it. For a Toyota of that era, barely run in.
Been working on sorting some stuff on some of mine as well
There's been a run of mysterious electrical faults and the Majestic has just declined to start again, either a stuck starter or siezed engine, ouch, will look into that further soon.
Humber has its own thread, I should update, but theres been some too and fro on that one and it seems to be in order now. More or less.
Sorting a couple of mine out to sell now, need space and cash for other things.
Seems to have been movement on a couple of stalled projects (most of mine ar TBF) so the "Roadtrip" LTD should be back on the road very soon.
I've gotten Marti Reports on a couple of mine, I suspect there are interesting stories there.

Interesting, one often wonders why cars are in the yards. Except the ones with damage and deployed airbags....
I heard that the old Landrover tow in truck has been bought by The Great British Car Journey as part of their collection!

Some of the "inappropriate" names are an attempt at misdirection. Call a bland car a "Charisma" and maybe it will get some appeal. I did read an article a long time ago about how car manufacturers were seeking to move to names which "mean nothing in any language" But which in some way "evoke the meaning that the car signifies to the market" or some such. Hense all these nonsence names we have now. No doubt whatever name a car has some wag will turn it into something else. Like the Allegro "all agro" - Allegro meaning "briskly" Anyway there are many examples of where name means somethign else (often rude) in a foreign language and some of these may even be true The lamborghini countach apparently has an interesting meaning in scicillian but meh, may not be true The Ford Ka was probably a terrible name as nobody could (or would) pronounce it right, even Ford dealers didn't and I understand they had been given specific instructions on how to say it! Its pronounced as it looks, its supposed to be a clever joke / wordlplay but it fell flat. Ka is the Egyptian word for the essential spirit or soul, its pronounced almost exactly as the English word "car" meaning an automobile, but to this day everyone calls them the Kay-Ay or something that sounds like a cough. Don't ever overestimate the public, Ford....

Is there a better approach to trying to get a kid their first insurance than Compare The Market / Money Supermarket etc and just bending over and taking it?
I have a 17 year old who has inheritted my mum's old Toyota RAV4 and is determined they are going to have it. Hmmm. I sympathise with the sentiment! I inherrited a Capri when I was 19 off my grandparents and that was a pain in the rear to insure back then too.
Usual tricks of "putting a parent on the cover" and so on are not bringing the price down on the comparison sites.
FWIW I am getting c. £2300 quotes on this car:kid combo.

So here we are again, petition time. And slme of y'all will just want to say it makes no difference or whatever, and thats fine but it takes a minute of your time to click and then click on the email link. We are currently battling to save a local airfield from being turned over to housing development. This is a lovely place and they are starting having car and bike events there too on an occasional basis so this is retro car related We have lost a number of active air fields and race tracks located on airfields because of a "loophole" in the law which allows developers to clasify the whole area of an airfield as a brownfield site and thus get a fast tracked planning approval for it. This even applies to active airfields. They make more money for housing than they do for light air use, car shows and racing on. We need to preserve the airfields as they are a source of engineering jobs, small businesses, a hobby for some, a place for families to bring their kids (my local is very popular for that), and many support grass roots motorsport. There's also the heritage angle as many are WW2 installations and some have pill boxes and other structures which are supposed to be listed now. So link 1: A petition to remove the automatic classification of airfields as brownfield development sites: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/660502?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1Ol3X0GXyF-jkFfG5eA26XHiq-Z5jFhinql7XzsjhTSKovlNoJipiRtc4_aem_AcUymkl0xgVvzwZn1cm7EYVlSWYfuQP8UhFQh3Uguo__rJHv658VXTqZdZzDvhmwNnjx3FE2ojalBTIIe1SFKDtFAnd link 2: Planning application for my local airfield to turn it into housing. Its an active airfield which houses a number of small businesses, a nice cafe, has a programme of car and bike meets in for 2024 and is also used by Nottingham and Lincolnshire air ambulances. There is also some wildlife conservation issues around badgers but the council has redacted much of the report so its hard to follow that. planningon-line.rushcliffe.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=makeComment&keyVal=S9O9AKNL0EI00Y'all can just click through and "Object" but if you can also add a comment along the lines of my reasons above I'd appreciate it.
