Hey Folks! Another week, another weekly chat, your place for stuff that may not warrant a full thread or stuff that is just going on right now that you want to share. Busy busy here at RRHQ, but not overwhelmed, just really motivated to get stuff done. Some events stuff, some club stuff, some forum stuff... all in the works nothing to show for it just yet (so this is a brief update here). I've spent a couple of days trying to get back in to my Flickr account so I can upload LOADS of photos from various things I've done over the past two years and so far have failed miserably. I'm logged in on my phone, but it doesn't give me any account info and I think my email address I used is no longer available and I can't reset the password and well... I'll work it out. Weather looks okay this week according to my forecast for where I live, so hopefully that means it is for everyone else and that means some garage time/enjoying car times Previous Thread: forum.retro-rides.org/thread/227205/chat-thread-feeling-good-wc

Weather has been good down south for a few days - problem is, 2/3 of my workspace is covered by a clear corrugated plastic roof so when the sun shines it's like a damn sauna in there . . . Meanwhile (as I've never started a build thread) a few pics of what's been going on with my 2 Doored RV8 Mk1 Sceptre . . .

Two colours have been picked out for the new paintjob on the Princess. Sticking with pink over black, I've not wanted to change this scheme since coming up with it and haven't found anything else I prefer so I feel like it's The One. Biggest change is going from flat gloss to metallic gloss, something I didn't think I'd be able to do since you can't really brush/roller paint metallics and that's how I was stuck having to do it due to budget and tools restraints. Things changed on that front, which is nice. We're trying out Nissan Cerise over Peugeot Raven Black, I'm hoping they work on the sample panel so I don't have to hunt down another metallic pink and metallic black that will work together. Also did a classic super cheap mod of Rover P6 stainless wheel trims. They look okay, I'm not in love with them, we'll see how I feel when they've been cleaned up and maybe modified a little bit.

Busy being busy again. Selling a couple of my cars and not enjoying the process. people!
Got the '69 Country Squire up and in use again, almost got the '71 Galaxie back up and going again, at least I know what the issue is.
Have some electrical stuff we are finishing off on the Hawk and I am getting some assistance in on the Majestic which has a failure to proceed which is either the starter VERY jammed up or the engine seized. Time will tell.

More grinding down of welds for me, interspersed with trying to repaint the wheels on the daily driver to get rid of the scuffs that have built up over the last few years. I'm only doing a quick job, but it still takes ages, partly down to my obsession with getting the last little bit of life out of every piece of wet and dry.
And I need to track down why, having had a battery fail on the Firenza, the radio isn't working any more. I've put a new battery on as the other seemed to die, showing 7% of CCA on a battery tester, but now I have no radio power. Weird, but maybe just a fuse that I've forgotten about.

Booked in at a garage to do the welding work on the Crossfire, and started working on my MGB again after a long hiatus, plus it started feeling a bit like summer again in the Midlands so a good start to the week so far 😎

Who needs an SUV when you've got a roof rack and hairy orange rope?

Booked accommodation for the Spa Six Hours, so that's a late summer treat to look forward to. Got the new registration certificate for the T5 in the post today as well, so I'll cycle out and get plates (and book a fresh APK) for it tomorrow.

Hopefully getting one of the Midas doors finished this weekend. Also had the pleasure of driving my mate's son to his mate's house in the SLC so he could go to prom with them in a limo (yuk!). He preferred the Merc... There were some cool motors there but only a few Retros. Kudos to the Trotter van replica, the V12 E Type and the classic Rolls Silver Cloud (classy!). There were a lot of Audis, AMG Mercs, modern Rollers, the occasional Lambo and Ferrari, plus even a McLaren. But the coolest kid turned up in a homemade motorised go kart. I didn't take any pictures because I thought it might be a bit weird...

I had noticed the travel on the handbrake has got quite long so I'm wondering if part of the mech isn't releasing on that side

Here's a pic from last year. A work colleague's V8 XD Falcon serving as ball taxi for my youngest and his young lady. This car is an actual factory taxi pack with over 500,000km on the odo. Still retains the Alloy Head II badging but now runs a 302, I believe with 289 heads.

Checked the radio on the Firenza, it's getting power and the fuse on the back isn't blown, so it must be the unit itself. Annoying, but I have plenty to swap for it, it's just a bit puzzling how it's failed.

I also don't have kids, which kind of makes it worse... Loving that Falcon!

The owner of that car has had it longer than he's had his wife (pictured driving). They've been married over 30 years.
