I think it falls into the 'different' category as opposed to good. I have always felt the best resolved design area on the Triumph is where the rear pillar meets the rear wing and boot. A longer glass area would move away from that. Reminds me of the Austin 1100 countryman which did something similar, adding practicality but a body far more deserving of being hit with a branch by John Cleese than the saloon. Personally I've always thought the 02 touring the ugly sister of the saloon anyway, so maybe it is my lack of personal vision....

I had never imagined that I would get so excited by what a 2nd hand sewing machine can signify....

A Seat Arosa really isn't my idea of a cool car, but your goal makes it very interesting, and even the current mpg makes me look twice at them now. You know the best form of lowering for aero will be some rake. Not something you tend to see on a VAG modded car.... Interesting, its not something I've seen on other ecomodded cars, since giving the car rake presents a higher angle to the windscreen. I'll have to do more research in that area. Hadn't thought about the windscreen angle, mmm... Theory as I know it is, closer to the ground at the front as possible, to reduce amount of air going under the car. What air does get under the car needs as quick an exit as possible, which is helped by an increasing angle towards the rear. Something to do with a venturi effect. The aerodynamics book by Simon McBeath may be useful to you if you want to get proper geeky! Good luck chap, cool project!

How about planning dates around Brooklands events? Meet where you say and cruise to brooklands. Might be more exciting than the typical meet standing around a car park ( no offence to people who like standing around in car parks)

In my opinion unless this is going for a song or extremely low miles I would look else where as there will be plenty more out there in much better condition. I would look for 1 thats had a bit more love over the years. Hope this helps :-) I would totally agree with this. Unless you want a project for a challenge/fun I would find one without the sills gone or electrics problems.

Just to clarify NO issues with VOSA, this is a modified classic like any other with V5c registration document including correctly registered engine change. Just needs standard MOT and being 1968 does not have any emission test to pass. Even if it did it would pass, has servo'd disc brakes all round, correct lighting, and all other MOT checks believe me. I was reluctant to sell anyway but for circumstance, you're kind comments are making me realise it is irreplaceable. A real shame if you do have to sell before enjoying the fruits of your labour. This car is very much a product of your vision and ingenuity, you will get more from it than anyone else so it would be great if there was a way to keep hold....

I think it's all down to the death of velour. Since cars have been fitted with so called better quality fabrics, people covet those cars less. Velour is linked to all good things.

I don't think people should get too excited about a bargain here. Unless the son is dead, or estranged, he will be the one to determine its future, and you don't just end up with a Charger without knowing what one is worth. He may be ready to sell it, but pretty unlikely it will be at the mercy of the mother to take the first £100. Beast all the same!

Was it not within the last year that the Govt were thinking of trialling 80mph limits?

Another vote for Volvo from me. I have an S60 and agree with what Bruce said about his V. Just a very enjoyable way to travel. I've got the wrong engine for economy though, so wouldn't suggest getting a T5.

Found this earlier and it took me on a Kamm tail journey. Gosh! Missed this first time around. That kamm tail Fulvia sport is the coolest car I have seen in quite some time, absolutely spot on change to improve on an already masterful design. Can't find any info about them, wondering if it us just a bespoke conversion. Love it. Want it. Real life means I would just be happy with a blown up version of that pic...

Mini One steel wheels are I think a 5.5" width. I have a brand new set of black ones if you're interested.

If it were I, a Volvo P1800 would be top of my list... Oh, and really sorry to hear of the fire by the way. Really bad luck

I'm still trying to build my favourite car. Ask me when you see me in it at the Gathering if I feel I managed to do it!

Well done for taking the plunge and cutting so much bodywork. I'd imagine you have been pondering over doing that for quite a while! It'll make for a better result!
