Thought I might find some useful input / information on here. Looks to be on cortina Mk4/5 running gear with a carbed 2.8 fitted, I don't know enough about old fords to give much more information that that tho :wack: First impressions are that the suspension is clearly the original 1987 stuff so all of the bushes are knackered and the steering is a bit vague. Other than that though it certainly doesn't weigh a lot and is pretty nippy. Plans are to weld the diff up after christmas then throw in some polybushes, fix up any leaks etc and get it reliable for its first drift day in january Then maybe a 24v cosworth lump in Updates as time and monies allow  Think a nose job would certainly help its looks

Very practical kitcar. The shape is not that bad, but it needs some spaghetti. It would look stunning in silver metallic and some nice crossspoke alloys. How about this for a nose job?

205 wheels headlamps and indicators?! certainly not the look I expected when I saw Ginetta at the top!

An unusual choice of car to see, I must say. I like it!!!!!!!!!!
I am wondering though if it should have different lights though as they seem to be a bit off, mk4 escort headlights maybe?

Very nice profile and rear, the front on the other hand... Maybe try to bodge on a 70's ford front end This has lots and lots of potential. I'd love to try build something out of one of these myself, but i'd guess they're impossible to get road legal in finland.

That's a rarish beastie. The G28 is much the same as the G31 model, but the more upright front-end treatment (I'd guess at Ford lights) means a V6 goes under the bonnet as standard. Unusual colour too - most of those Ginetta saloons are red or white. Is it still the gel-coat finish?
There's plenty you could do with these. With GRP bodywork, and probably a galvanised chassis, the running gear is going to die before the frame :-)
Ginetta did wheels with a special offset. Obviously Ford will fit, but the offset are wrong, which is probably why yours has ended up with Pug alloys.
Don't prang the doors while drifting : Mk2 XR2 owners will only cry :-)

i.ytimg.com/vi/DAOy5XKsunM/0.jpgOnly other halkf decent pic I could find of one, it seems the lights are the correct ones and that Escort ones wouldn't fit due to the indicator units. Wheels are also originals strangely enough.

Yep galvanized chassis and I'm not sure on the lights, 205 look the closest match bit I'm not convinced, will have a look at the part numbers tomorrow.
Pleased this has made some interest and thanks to everybody for helpful posts :-D
The doors are in pretty bad condition and the interior needs bining. (tho I think the rear 1/4 are bespoke ginetta so will keep those). I feel slightly bad do to its rarity but its not worth anything to ginetta fan boys so it will be very much a functional performance car. Everything I do to it will be from a functional pov although it will also be my daily atm.
Wheels have ginetta centre caps :-)
I need a new smaller steering wheel tho to suit a cortina, the brakes need an overhaul and its full of excess weight in the form of thick carpet, mats and even wood!
Small update to come tomorrow inc 0-60.

I'd say garage all the parts you take off, if you have the space, then if it ever does get sold on the new owner has the option to return to normal. Even fubar'd interiors can make useful patterns for replacement parts.

odd that its ford running gear using pug wheels, unless they were machined and a spigot added as the centre bore of the pug wheels are quite a bit bigger.

V6 as standard in the 28 and the 30 I think, whichever the other saloon with square lights is. Problem is the 15s on there atm look lost with tractor tyre. Think I'm going to have to find a way to make 17s look nice. (don't worry I won't ruin it manpower style, promise).

Nice to see one of these with decent wheel fitment and ride height. I think a Rover SD1 front would suit.

I'm not going to congradulate you like everyone else has. It looks awful. But it has some serious potential. Sounds like youre just going to use it for drifting so probably does not matter. But if you did want it to look pretty then probably the best place to start would be to try and get rid of as much of that 1980s ford trim as possible. Change the headlamps, door handles, tail lamps, etc, etc... What is that tow bar for.
I don't know if it will help but the Saab 900 1988-1993 and Saab 9000 1985-1998 use the same PCD as Ford and Peugeot. The offset is different though. Is also different on the 9000 and the 900 so if you want some different wheels you might be able to pick up something cheap off a scraped saab with non-oem wheels. Plenty of those around, more common on old 9000s though. Offset is around 27mm. There is also a 16-inch steel wheel available from Citroen C5 MKII with a 26mm offset. Available new from Citroen for about 25.00 a corner.

Oo that's interesting, the arches on the ginetta are huge so some low offset 8 or 9js would be a good start, will have to have a butchers at the local scrapped. Jobs for today: Fix leaks Check exhaust See what brakes its running Find wheel specs Check for parts that aren't original. Fix big dent in front bumper Fix headlights (no main beam, only full and sides) Take apart the mouldy interior lol. Then get it on a weighbridge as weight is a complete guess atm. Old Ford stuff weighs a tonne tho.

.........It looks awful. But it has some serious potential......... Each to his/her own I guess, the more I see this car the more I'm falling in love with it's looks. As a drift machine it certainly will be unique amongst all the J machines and BMWs, mechanically I'd consider some options, but I couldn't personally change it's looks much, if at all.
