A while ago i bought a p100, for obvious reasons. It had been sitting around for quite a few years, and as we tried to get it running the 1.8 decided it had had enough. I searched for a organ donator for several months, but no almost free bosch-pump equipped fords appeared on the local classifieds. As things played out i happened to get a mercedes om604 in a trade. The 604 also happens to be low enough in both displacement and power to be a valid candidate for a legal engine swap according to the beautiful finnish MOT regulations. So the 1.8 came out (acctually several months ago, but whatever) And a few hours ago the 604 was trial fitted I had already convinced a tig-wielding friend to build a rear-sumped sump for the engine, but looking at the engine sitting in front of crossmember we came to the conclusion that stock sump was the way to go. The P-100 is not exactly a track weapon anyway. As we pondered engine placement and sumps my friend decided to tackle the bodywork. The car had been sitting in my friends scrapyard car collection, and had got a quite big dent from a tractor. Nothing a slide hammer can't fix though. The finished result is on par with my standards on bodywork. Engine mounts were made, obviously the car had to be modified to accept the engine, the other way around would have been weird. My trustworthy accomplices got started on the exhaust as i fabricated the engine mounts. They also fixed the leaking tank, and mounted a tank for the methanol next to it. I made some rubber engine mounts. They had been used for something else before, hence the off-centre holes. I'm sure they don't matter. I couldn't find some long enough bolts for the engine, so i made some. Altough i think i misscalculated. Mounted! Look at that fitment! Better than stock? This is the where we are at the moment, at 2:30 friday night. Hopefully we'll continue tomorrow. Or in half a year.

I need much more of this!! Most excellent stuff! Ask and you shall receive! Yesterday was mostly spent burning an old boat we had used for spare-parts, for our other, much better boat. Before burning it was in an accident with a (john) deere. My trusty workhorse escort showed once again what it was capable of. Me looking like the tough guy i am. After spending the entire bloody day watching the fire, drinking beer and grilling sausages on the fiber glass flames we continued with the p100, but it was already quite late and we didn't get much done.. The gearbox crossmember was surprisingly easy to adapt, obviously a hockey puck was also used here. I had a cosworth bumper sitting around that i newer got around fitting to the silver sierra Obviously a proper truck also need a bull bar. Big shout out to Simon and Kånny for modeling. The prop shaft was made by welding the front half of a merc propshaft to the front end of the p100 shaft. I have a hunch i have to redo this later... I do have a dogleg box(pictured), but somehow this one ended up 4-speed.. Estimated top speed 130km/h? A clutch pedal was sourced, as the merc box has a hydraulic clutch. And the gearbox linkage was shortened, exactly 70mm. Obviously this didn't work out, and had to be cut to pieces and rewelded once mounted in the car.. Remember the slightly too long engine mount bolt? It was fixed, so it won't be a hazard during the rigorous use this car will endure. And last: Obviously a proper gear stick, fitting for a PROPER TRUCK had to be fabricated.

Thanks guys, nice to get some appreciation for all the hard work! Sunday rolled around and everything seemed slow, not just our 50's kettle. The gearstick was finalized Check out that stock merc shifter action! Needs a center console though. I spent most of the day building this monstrosity of a pedal contraption. Combining the steel ford support thingy with the aluminium mercedes clutch support. And after a lick of paint. The pipe for the hydraulic sylinder would have to be routed through the front wheel well, so i think it still needs a bit of adjustment.. Trying to get the pipe fitted to the sylinder through the front wheel well ended up with ruined threads in the clutch sylinder. As a test drive seemed very implausible we decided to call it a night and continue on a later date... The great thing with a pickup is that you can store all your sheit on the bed! Threw the hood back on. And pulled it down to the other white fords and assorted... "projects"

I'm curious to know what your plans with that W201 in the background are! Love the OM604; great diesel motor. Looking at using a 606 for a project in the future. Here in the states we aren't restricted on motor swaps

I feel like this won't be going for a MOT, either way? But I like the style of build. Just remember it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt.

In a few days hopefully The 604 also happens to be low enough in both displacement and power to be a valid candidate for a legal engine swap according to the beautiful finnish MOT regulations. please explain You can only go a certain percentage (in both displacement and power) over the largest and most powerful engine that the manufacturer made available in that car model. Yup, 20% increase in horsepower and displacement is allowed. As the biggest engine available in the p100 in Finland was the low-comp 2.0 pinto the engine choices are fairly limited.. I'm curious to know what your plans with that W201 in the background are! Love the OM604; great diesel motor. Looking at using a 606 for a project in the future. Here in the states we aren't restricted on motor swaps The w201 is just a mates spares car.. The 606 has amazing potential, get a hx40 super and a diesel pump from one of the big finnish or swedish builders and you're set for huge power. I feel like this won't be going for a MOT, either way? But I like the style of build. Just remember it's all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Thanks Of course it'll get MOT'd, i can't see why you'd think otherwise..

Found a few pictures of the bodgemobile basking in the sun last summer. Isn't it stunning? The interior was rancid after a winter (and summer) outside without a side window, so i pulled it out and gave it a good clean. I have a pair of recaros for it, but i'd prefer to fit a bench seat, so i'd be able to fit both my friends. Before After Floor pans look good, maybe i'll go with a bare floor. We also made a better patch pannel for the slightly dented bedside. It's made out of a w123 hood, which means it's high quality german steel. I also changed the door for one with a side window. Some kids had found a spray can and decided to try and give the p100 a makeover. Sadly they seem to have run out of paint. Snickars, of ranta hurri racing fame, made me a (racing) throttle bracket. It came out perfect I also kinda fitted the intercooler It's a bit on the small side for a engine that will produce this amount of power, but i'll give it a go. We also set up a temporary gas tank, as the fuel system isn't complete yet. This solution also cools the fuel for maximum efficiency. Somehow we got sidetracked and decided to fix the dented hood on my w210, a friend had a good hood to spare, but sadly it was of a pre-facelift. So the only logical thing was to combine the two. A lick of paint and it'll be showroom quality! Oh, we also got the p100 to run. We even did a tiny burnout without coolant and boost pipes, which sadly wasn't captured on video. The knocking sound is of the downpipe being loose. Sorry for the god-awful video, i was a bit tipsy.
