that's top advice from Dom there.
If it hurts, its not right, painkillers mask problems and may make it bearable, but its still not right, get it fixed.

i had my car written off six months ago by some pillock in a rover 214. pulled infront of me from a parking space whilts i was doing about 30mph. didn't even have time to brake. did this to my car: it actually wasn't as bad as it looks, but insurance company still wrote it off. to add to injury, the pr*ck in the rover disputed blame and as a result it took me 4 months to get a dime from his insurance company. still, makes me smile everytime i see the pic of his car after the accident: his car was so badly f*cked up he couldn't open his boot because the whole thing was twisted. if i were you, i'd make damn well sure you keep in touch with your insurance company, like every day. i learnt from my experience the best way to get them to listen to you is mention the words "i'll see you in court". good luck dude, i hope you get a good payout.

you need only two things in life: WD40 and duck tape. if it moves and it shouldn't use the duck tape, if it doesn't move but should then use the WD40. Genius!

Well, they've written it off as a Category B, I've let them know I want salvage and they say I can have it back for 25% of the valuation... It's with a company called ETWB who are in the process of valuing it now... Chances of seeing it again are getting slimmer I can see it being a right fight to get the right money for it too

Catagorey B means Parts only doesn't it? Means you can't put it back on the road.

yeah cat B means you're not allowed to put it back on the road. it has to be crushed and any parts stripped off by a profesional scrapper or some b*llocks. thats really quite unfortunate cos it looked like a pretty neat car. damage didn't even look that bad... i would've thought it would be a cat C at most.
is there any way you can dispute that i wonder? i know i had to beg the engineer that inspected my car to make it a cat C, just so i could keep the wreck. he seemed pretty relaxed about that.

It's gonna be an absolute fight to get the right money Anyone wanna start a book on what's the first figure they offer? They want 25% value to buy it back, so I don't reckon it's worth it either

Fck man that's wibblepoo . I trust you told them to go sit on a rather large marrow. I'm not clued up on battling with insurance companies so can't offer much advice, but I suppose checking the private ads in Performance VW and other publications would be a good idea. What value did you put on the car when you insured it? Would that give any leverage at all? Good luck with it mate

Good luck with it mate I put 8-1200 quid on it, but can't get agreed value on TPFT policies so has no leverage I love the way he did the valuation without even seeing PICTURES of the car, let alone the car itself! All he got was "1987 Golf GTi, 164,000 miles, knackered drivers seat, rusty drivers wing and rust on tailgate"...
