Yes they are Mark, awful pic i have to confess. I'm not entirely sure but it was on steel wheels on my car so maybe the lack of large pronounced outer lip is making it look mild compared. I'm not sure, ive removed the pic now anyway ive realised its making Joe's stretch look mild haha.

I really love this, it's a real homage to the Japanese Kei cars. The fabrication work and depth of the build is great. Always makes me smile this thread........... keep making it more epic ;D

Well, the rain today gave me the perfect excuse to spend a few hours in the workshop and forget about landscaping the garden for a while! I've been meaning to crack on and sort out the front suspension as the driveshafts were binding up due to the increased camber and decreased ride height. My plan was a simple one really; cut the wishbone mounts off the subframe, space them out and weld them back on..... Bish.. Bash.. Bosh.. OK, that didn't take too long! Time to try it back on its feet. What I hadn't banked on was just how much the driveshafts had been restricting the movement of the suspension and with it all free'd up it became evident it could be a bit, dare I say it, too low..... The wheels are way to high up in the arches, so I now have the choice of lifting it a bit, or trimming more from the wings and raising the arch extension up a bit. If I leave the front, I've then got to decide whether to keep the rake, or drop the back some more . To give you an idea of the current height it's now sat at, here it is next to my bike! Joe

I suppose it depends what you're intending to do with the car eventually. If it's just for looks move the arch up to fit the wheel, if you're intending to use it, then raise the front a bit to fit the wheels to the arches.
Personally, I'd raise the arches and sod the consequences.

I'm inclined to agree with you This was supposed to just be a bit of fun with minimal work going into it, but it's been steadily getting away from me over the past few weeks. It will be nice to feel it's nearing completion to be honest. As for what I'm going to do with it; I've really got no idea. I want it finished to take to the Gathering, providing I can get it onto a club stand as it's obviously way too new to be there really. After that, I can only see it getting broken up and weighed in; unless someone wants it! Joe

everyone keeps whinging at us saying we are encouraging 'moderns' onto our stand but I'm just encouraging stragglers who arent in a club! this car is epic, anyone who wouldnt want it in a show because of age alone is probably not worth knowing, and you are more than welcome to be on our little (currently 5 strong) stand at the gathering! (hampshire modified and retro) so theres your cordial invitation!!! just drop me a PM!

The www.dirtystancing.com stand also has a spare space or 2 and we'd be more than happy to have this display with us.

my goodness.. I think the ride height is perfect, as long as it can still be driven I'd cut those inner arches up and move the wide ones up a little, but just enough not to have scrubbing

For me the ideal arch wheel gap is about what the rear wheel has in this pic. My preference is that arch gap should be even front and back. Also on a car like this the height (to the road) at the front and back of the sill skirt needs to be the same, Ie the car looks level. So get it sitting level (is that where it is now or up slightly?) and then move the arch up the remaining amount so it matches the back. This is gonna be the coolest Little Aixam ever what ever you do. It would be a bonus if it was kinda useable too but I guess that's not the point, so aesthetics are probably going to rule the decision at the end of the day.
