Ciao Retroisti... Have just unhooked the snow blade on the T22 since I feel that the winter is over now (yeaa right) and when I had a photorapher friend (Hot Rod kind) over this weekend I borrowed his snapper (since the dogs chewed mine) to shoot some pix of it, man a Nikon D200 takes some nice pix.... Plans were for a flat black Hot Rod paint with pinstriping and red wheels with Moon Discs up front, 3" chrome exhaust stack, Bell 4 bar steering wheel, 7" chrome headlights and Cad 59 tailights but the more I look at these pix the more I like the patina and might just fit the Bell steering wheel, exhaust, chrome headlights and Cad 59 tailights..... DP asks: HoodRide or Hot Rod that's the question......

...Do you know anyone with a sodding big lathe who could run you up a pair of spun aluminium discs for the rear wheels...?
I say moons on the front, homemade discs on the rear, patina'd, hoodride stencil just above the Volvo logo on the side and big chrome lamps.

Top grammar tips! Bought = purchased. Brought = relocated Lose = misplace/opposite of win. Loose = your mum

...Do you know anyone with a sodding big lathe who could run you up a pair of spun aluminium discs for the rear wheels...? *n Step 0ne: cut big round aluminium disc Step two: bolt them to the to rear wheels Step three: jack up tractors back axel Step four: Start it up and put it in top gear Step five: hold suitable abrasive to them to get that spun / brushed kinda look Step six: quickly pull out the axel stands and fly off down the road, preferably doing a wheely.

penski in da house: Do you know anyone with a sodding big lathe who could run you up a pair of spun aluminium discs for the rear wheels...?I actually have, talked to HÃ¥kan at Mooneyes Sweden and Moon will make discs any size, he's looking into prize for me so we'll see but RatlookReliant's 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 steps could work since it don't need a dish on the disc to fit, hmmmm..... I have also orderd one of these to go on the front.... and a left & right pair of these to gon on the brake pedals.... Steering wheel... Headlights... Taillights.... But as most of you point out, patina like that can't be bought, it would be insane to repaint it and the more I look at it the more I like it as is, I even went for a spin last night and it's just hummin along, sweeeet..... DP says: I guess there's a little farmer living in all of us......

i like your thinking dp, and luvving the old tractors. I used to sit and play on one a bit like this in morcambe camp site when i was a little nipper. it was stuck in sand, so part of the fixtures, but it was ace.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

gjm in da house: Stick a lorry engine in it
No way!!! The motor runs on kerosene and after over 50 years of service it starts as easy as a brand new car, had the starter rebuilt and since no problems, would not replace that motor.....
DP says: If it works don't mess with it but if it don't work chrome it......

Normally I'd go along with the lorry engine thing and say that a Volvo FL7 turbodiesel (7 litre engine found in small Volvo lorries, I think as standard they go up to 270bhp or so but you could manage to free up more I reckon! ) would be just the thing, but if your tractor's running such a sweet little kerosene engine then it'd be a shame to disturb it, if it were knackered it'd be a different story but for now the standard unit sounds good to me!

Speaking of tractors just got some bad news. The Case over heated this morning and lost a lot of water. So when i got back i checked for bubbles in the rad-wasnt so much bubbling as throthing up and over the filler neck Also didnt look an amazing shade of brown with crud floating around in it. Ho-hum. Isnt perticularaly great news as it comes a day after spending vast quantities of cash getting the rear linkage gubbins fixed on the David Brown

if you want to make an old tractor fly, why not supercharge? worked for barney oldfield in 1933 when he made his allis-chalmers top 64 mph. could be interesting. heres a scan of the allis-chalmers book I found it in you should be able to read the text as well
