well, seeing as I did some proper work today on it, I thought I should introduce it to you guys in more detail. I bought this car from a bloke in essex (oops bad idea   ) for £400 "immaculate inside and out" he said. which was a good deal when you look at the pictures of the interior (cant be happier with the inside)and the exterior from far away: and it came with 9 months of MOT, couldn't complain really for that price. but once you have a poke around, not all is well the sills for example: oh well, gives me a chance to do some body/structural repair work to do and a bit of experience *my first car was a 1500 midget. but this is the first road legal car

So the first major bit of work i did, well started, today was fixing the driver's side sill: couldn't help myself, got a new angle grinder from Homebase*** first cut *gulp* thankfully the rot didn't spread too far then this was the final result after a couple of hours of cutting and cursing: pretty pleased with the result. good that the volvonium is thick too, as my welder can't take anything less that 1mm ***the angle grinder in question was a Powerbase extreme 1010watts 11k rpm grinder. came with a few discs and a handy carry box too. all for £24.99 I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a cheap angle grinder well thats all folks  more progress tomorrow hopefully

Fair play, It does look rather clean. It's a good choise for a first car. Rwd, light, reliable. + body panels are cheap enough. Do like. Got any plans for the future?

Got any plans for the future? precisely why i got it - bit of doriftooo body panels? where? (I'm yet to find some... ) as for future plans after the sills the next jobs are as follows: -new sound system, speakers in the post at the moment. -new wheels, 13s or 15s, not sure yet. -a good smack with the lowering stick -possibly a home brew stainless system, -find a spoiler to cover some nasty dents left on the boot too oh, and become old enough to drive it cheers

Can't go wrong with a Volvo i reckon some deep dish 13's and a big hit for the stick would set it off nicely, then just enjoy it

Slam on nice 13" wheels would work well, decent project for your first car. Could always fit some gtt bits to the lump for more poke in the future...

right, updates first getting to work with the sill; could work as an offroader, no? so after a while ended up with this: not perfect by any means, you try using gasless 0.9mm wire on 1mm metal - was hard work but its nice and solid now then I started on a minor modification which should help me out on rough roads middle bit made from 2mm aluminium, was going to use 3mm but didnt have the time to bend it, once this one goes, ill pop the 3mm plate in  half done:

Hi, Good work and I like the car; post some more photos when you can. Have you been on the Volvo forum? It's good, and Foggyjames on there is well into 300 Volvos so would be able to advise on parts, fixing, upgrades etc. (He has a 343 with big Webers that sounds great!) www.volvoforums.org.uk/index.phpSo when will you be old enough to drive on the road then? Cheers John

Cheers John thank you for the feedback I'm on the volvo forums, not been on there for a while, and also v300mania - both really good for information i havent done much to it lately as i have been on holidays and working and helping various people with their cars/motorbikes but I'm planning on getting a big bottle of gas soon in order to do the other sill and weld up a nasty hole in the bit behind the rear light. I'm now 20 days away from driving this and it feels like an age work shall begin again soon

fitted new leads today and cleaned the dizzy cap - WOW what a difference! really wasn't expecting that! however not all is good at camp volvo.. it is refusing to turn over. to clarify - the car was running sweet as 5 - 10 minutes ago, went back to it and turn the key.. and you just get a click and nothing. battery has a charge of 12.5 volts and properly connected as lights etc work - what could the problem be? thanks all
