Can I ask on the pictures showing the engine what are the blue discs under the spark plugs? These are copies of factory ones which were black - supposed to keep dirt away from the hole so when you remove a plug it doesnt go down the hole - they just go around the main body of the plug .

Finally got this out and about Thursday evening . Clutch is still perfect Transaxle is perfect Fired right up after nearly a month of idleness doing nothing . So all in all i think i can safely say the clutch / transaxle saga is finished and its finally reasonably happy with life in general

Can I ask on the pictures showing the engine what are the blue discs under the spark plugs? They are supposed to keep any crud from sitting in the plug recess and falling in if you take a plug out , factory ones are black rubber , these are just modern copies in blue silicon ---- do they work - well kind off i guess . Thanks for your interest

Seeing as this has been through such a lot in its life ive had a book made , just to take to any cars shows we might do in it . its only 38 pages but i think its better than a photo album should anyone be interested enough to look . Came out rather well i think

Just read through from the start, what an awesome car! I had an imp years ago when I was 15, I got it as a plan to have my first car, but I couldn't weld back then, so gave it to a guy recommended to me, the work he done was attrocious, which meant I sold it on, I bought it back a few years later in the same state, but it wasn't to be, so I sold it again and it was cut up to save a few others. I'd love to have another imp one day, that 'first car love' has never left

Touch wood etc etc but the transaxle seems to have repaired itself , its not kicked out of gear since the last trip i posted on here once - even with a spirited gearchange . I guess threatening to torch it or beat it to death payed off as its suddenly recovered . Most weird but I'm most happy

Then and now shots . Unfortunately the car park had changed completely in the time scale , so much so that where we parked orignally isnt even part of the car park anymore  First pic 1992 , second and third 9-6- 2018 - taken at the Valley of rocks Lynton

Just driven this 415 miles to the Imp club national and back at Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire, Didn't miss a beat either - got 50.9 MPG on the way up but only 44 MPG on the way home as i took a scenic route some of the way , used less than half a mug full of oil and no coolant , clutch worked , gears worked --- hell it all worked

Well the Triumph stag expansion bottle on here sprang a leak , given the cost of a new one i thought id go cheap skate . I found this 700ml shaker bottle in Asda for £2.50 . It has a pop top as well as a screw on lid so in theory if it does overheat ive a feeling the pop shut mouth bit on the top will just - well pop off letting the pressure out , hopefully il never know but i do have a way of testing it which i might one day . Rad cap is set at 7lb so the bottle is unpressurised under normal circumstances . At 75˚C The coolant rise is exactly 100ml - bottle has a measure on the side
