Got this a while back.
Slough built, first registered in nz in feb 1960 which puts it as a '59 Build.
has done ~115000 Miles,
some sweet knitting needles I found in the back. probably been used for countless home abortions
engine bay: crossflow alloy head, fwd, inboard disc brakes and fully independent hydraulic suspension in 1960. choice. gearbox is in FRONT of the engine
thought she was 100% rust free but have found a few small holes in the sill/side of floorpan.
Will be on the lookout for a set of doors as these are quite tatty in the dent-sense.
will fix that bodged looking repair that was done by the last guy for a WOF inspection (MOT equiv here in NZ)
picked up lhm parts car off www.trademe.co.nz for the princely sum of $151 a while back. pwn3d a super silly deal on trailer hire (mine wouldn't fit a d by a long shot) and towed with dad's ute coz CROWN was still in panelbeaters.
bro rolled along in his hilux with his partner, and 'twas a glorious family day out.
YAY
there were some weirdo trainspotter types around taihape due to there being a steam train run or something so went and had a gander, said gidday to an old chap in a datsun 120a cherry (damn rare!) that he's owned since new, and generally looked weird/ripped up taihape grass verges with the whole deal.
desert road was dusted in snow in the morning, and the latest high tech grit is covering the utes. so gross. goes all sticky and curse word. can't be good for paint.
anywho, pics ahoy.
^ green gold.
radio rules. had one exactly the same in My holden hq kingswood I used to have (terrible car. later model than my CROWN and archaic to drive in comparison)
couple of related pics from the tow home
Am loving how tatty it is. get so many looks and it's such a nice car to drive. keeps up with modern traffic with ease and oh so economic.
Am embarking on the LHM conversion starting this weekend. Will do the rust between chrsitmas and new year, and hopefully have it all back together, new brakes, new clutch, and road legal by the 23rd for the Citroen club national meet.
pretty terrible layout for a rides thread but I didn't want to post it in the format that is on oldschool.co.nz as that's more of a running timeline.
link to that thread here for anyone interested. pretty much the same stuff anywho.
